ok, writing this from the new place.

no, i'm not in nashville... thankfully. they got 13 to 15 inches of rain in about 24 to 36 hours. quite a mess. we here only got about 5 to 7, but upstream they got 10 and that all comes downriver to us, which is what's causing the flooding now. so, because it comes from upriver, the floods take a while to develop. though the rain all occurred last weekend, we're not seeing the flooding till this weekend, which has given me time to move things out of the old house.

hopefully, it wont actually get into the old house, but just around it. it's raised up on blocks. it's already showing in my backyard and low part of the road there as of last night. i'll probably get some pictures today and maybe post one or two. it's really quite amazing how much water can pour out over the fields and area.

carl, yes, that was pretty amazing. i've seen some of those pics of the volcano. quite spectacular! i saved a few to my harddrive. really impressive smile:)

Good morning everyone. smile:)

Hey Craig,

Good to hear that you are dry! Hope the old house stays that way also!
Tennessee is a beautiful state, always loved the rolling hills / mountains. I have never been to The Opryland Hotel. Friend of mine has been, & told me how huge it is, said the damage has got to be in the millions of dollars.

Pray you & the NEW / old house stays dry!

Have a GREAT day! smile:)

ok, i've got one computer mostly set up now at the new place. it's only 3.0 wireless connection, but it's at least currently working smile:) oh, and i've also got the laptop working.

there's now water completely around my old place. it's not real deep yet, but it shld get up about 2 foot. since my house sits on a block foundation all the way around it, it shldnt get into the house, i hope! i've got a lot of my necessities moved, clothes, computer, books, etc and shld be fine now. i'm way up on high ground.

and this morning pretty much made the move official. i had the satellite tv hooked up. lol. they gave me 3 months of showtime free for staying loyal to them while moving. and i also stayed here overnight for the first time since starting this move. so, i'm in.

it's a nice house overlooking a lake and dam with lots of countryside and lots of wildlife. the four pairs of geese that were nesting here this year have all hatched their eggs and moved away now. we get deer back here and wild turkeys, an occaisonal snowy egrett, a few ducks now and then, hawks, 'possums, raccoons, groundhogs and i've even seen a couple bald eagles over the years. so, it's a nice place. when carl comes to visit us all, we can all meet here smile:)

no pics yet. i'm still unpacking and settling in. i've taken a number of shots recently, but havent loaded them into the computer yet.

so, i shld be fine. thanks, guys smile:)

and this one is from the house i live in now. the water on the right is our lake. the dam is the green running across the pic and the water on the top left is flood water in one of our corn fields. the new house is high up and never in danger.

yup, all the corn was planted and we're going to lose about 3/4 of it. the guys have crop insurance so, most of the damage will be covered. still, it looks rather sick.

yeah, i like the sign one, too smile:)

and yes, it is a nice area.

as the water goes down, i'm seeing an awful lot of brown, dead corn around here smile:( the good news is, i can get back in my old house again smile:)
