I have had FF4 for a little while now. Have had no problems using it in Photoshop. Until today. I tried to use FF4 while in Photoshop (Filter>Filter Forge>Filter Forge 4)and received the following: "Could not complete the Filter Forge 4 command because of a program error".

I can, however, open up FF4 apart from Photoshop with no issues. (I have it loaded in my dock on my Mac, so I can use FF4 even if I am not using Photoshop.) Has anyone else experienced this "program error"? And if so, what can be done about it? I can't think of anything I have added or done differently that would cause this program error.

I appreciate any responses and guidance.

What Mac OS version do you use?
What Filter Forge version do you use? You may need to install the latest update from the download page.

Filter Forge 4 has been updated several times during the last two months. Please download and reinstall the latest version from the download page.

I installed the update. FF4 still will not work from Photoshop. And now, when I use FF4 as a stand-alone, it won't render either. It gets to about 1/3 to 1/2 completed and then stalls out. So, I have this product that is now un-usable, really. It won't work in Photoshop and it won't work outside of Photoshop. What are the options?

I paid for a lifetime subscription and have never been able to get FF to work: Either standalone or from Photoshop. I tried to use FF4 while in Photoshop (Filter>Filter Forge>Filter Forge 4)and received the following: "Could not complete the Filter Forge 4 command because of a program error". When I run it as a standalone it attempts to initialize the rendering process but the the status meter goes nowhere. Many times it silly quits and supplies a huge error report. I had this problem on my old Mac and just bought a new Mac Pro for $4k and installed a fresh version of FF. It still doesn't work!!!

There appears to be no way to get answers on their website. I sent in a help request a month ago and got no response. Is this company legit. I'm starting to wonder if they stole my money> Has anyone else out there been ripped off buy these guys?

JonathanSugarman, it's always behaved correctly on my Mac no problem and I've been using it professionally. Sometimes, it kinda throws up a tantrum at me, but in general it's running fine.

If you get error messages with long reports I'd copy and paste that and send it to support along with specific info on what you've done.

Also, upon uninstallation, you might be leaving support files in the library folder and otherwise. (Kinda like left over gunk, it happens on mac).

I swear man, software issues can be pretty frustrating but solutions can be found.

Thanks for the reply Yuya, but it never worked properly for me even when I installed it for the first time.
I would be happy to copy and paste my error message but what's the point? This company doesn't respond.

They can take $300 from me (for version 3 and 4, neither of which have worked properly) but won't offer any support.
Did you notice how they don't even provide a phone number?

I've done that and gotten messages back. Donno what's happening there. smile:( You probably already checked your spam folder but check again... sometimes responses sneak in there.

And in regard to a phone number it's available, but probably not for support.

I, too, sent an email to Support. They were very prompt in replying to me, and asked me some further questions. They sent me another email saying their developers were able to reproduce the issue and they are working on a fix.

I understand your frustration, JonathanSugarman. I do love this product, however, and am willing to give it more time to see a solution come through. There may be a bug with FF4....I had FF3 for a long time with no issues whatsoever. So I have some level of faith in the company and the product overall.

Hope that helps.

Thanks catinaround. They did respond to me at 6:15am this morning. I replied shortly after and described my issues in detail, but have not yet heard back 12 hours later. Hopefully I'll get some help tomorrow.

I appreciate you input.
Kind regards
Jonathan
