Hiya,
So running the Beta, my previous library in inaccessible. If running the older version, I have my old library but I cant D.L any current filters. Is there an easy copy paste I can do on my Mac to make the Beta read the old library? or some code I can tweak? I've got by running two seperate apps of FF but I dont like where Im heading by doing that.

Thanks
Aaron

The libraries are in ~/Library/Application Support , there is a 'FilterForge' and a 'FilterForge 2' folder there.

The downloaded filters are in System/Library in that FF directory, so I just copied all those to the FF 2 to get them there.
And for downloading, the trick to get them into the FF you want is pretty simple.

Have that FilterForge running when you click [Download this filter] on the web, and that FF instance will get the notification to pull it.

If you haven't it running, LaunchServices will launch the Last one it finds, (FF 2).

there is one problem with running two versions like we're doing now and you mentioned it; one tends to end up with twice the harddrive space taken up due to having multiple copies of the same filters. it would have been great had we been able to simply point to the version one filters and used that path and those filters. not a big complaint, mind you, just would have been a tad easier... well, until version two became official.

actually, this fits with the whole user made folders idea. in paint shop pro, one simply can point psp to look in x, y, z folders, any number of folders, anywhere on the computer and it will keep that reference intact until you change it. FF could fairly easily do this as well. in fact, having that and allowing to also look in cd/dvd drives for the filters would be spectacular!

Craig - That depends on how many filters you have, but we're talking a < 30 kb average for a filter. 7000 filters, thats 200 MB worth of disk space, not so much to worry about. Thats one high res image.

407 megs on my 'my filters'. double that is 814 megs, which is approaching a gig. that's not insubstantial. and your 30kb avg is off by quite a bit on mine. 5015 files at 407 megs. also, that's JUST 'my filters'. if i count everything in 'Filter Forge' within the application data folder, it's 3.82 gigs and over 42,000 files. now, there are quite a few doubles in there because of an old backup, but there's also all the custom environments, presets and whatever else gets put in there. so, even if i say only 3 gigs, that becomes 6 gigs when doubled and i'd almost bet there are companies that have more than that. so, it's not a small amount here.
