I have not been using this tool for some time so i am not sure if this is a bug or just me being stupid.....

However I upgraded today the Basic version to 1.019 (paid version) on Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro and tried to make some frosted glass for import in Second life. However they all come out with that stupid life buoy in the background and it seems I can not get rid of it no matter what graphic format I use and what settings I change.

Please... give me a quick hint or just tell me something has changed or if this is a new bug?

Regards from Sweden

Filters that show the life buoy are called "effect" filters. They rely on YOU to give the program a image to modify, it can't create from nothing so you have to give it something, because you're not, it does the default buoy image. Try using "new" and changing the color, or "open" and point to an existing file type.

Alternatively: use a "texture" filter. These don't use a source image and you won't have that problem at all.

i believe if you click on 'new' in the file menu and then change the color to transparent, that will get rid of the life preserver image and also all transparencies to work right with the filter (if it has any).

the filter can also be altered to bypass the life preserver and let transparencies show through.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
