Several filters suddenly not working, including Sketchy Painter and Atmosphere Paradise. Others, including Blueprint Drawing and Cut it Out still work fine.
Using PS CS3 this afternoon, I found that FF2 would just not render the filter after I clicked apply. Nothing was happening and I realized a force quit was required. This error showed up then from PS (which did not crash): Could not complete the Filter Forge 2 command because of a problem with the filter module interface. So, I came to the forums, saw that FF2 for CS5 was released and downloaded that, thinking I'd just go around the problem. Tried using filters working from PS CS5. A new message pops up now going into FF2 about a gamma correction being applied. Ok, that's fine, but the same filters are not working that didn't work in CS3. Any ideas? I'm on a Mac OS10.6.5 running PS (extended) CS5 in 64 bit. Obviously, CS3 was not 64bit. The only other change is that I officially upgraded to FF2 a few days ago! DebraS |

Am I the only one this has been happening to? It's still happening, although today it also forced Photoshop to force quit instead of giving me an error message.
Sigh. DebraS |

Running 10.6.5 but not PS and the only bgs I have are those that have been along for a while ....
So, does the filters work in standalone mode (FilterForge.app)? Have you installed anything interesting new lately? Those are the two main things to check. P.S. I'm not with FF inc, only a FF user with about 20+ years of Mac programming experience - I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

OK, it does work as a stand-alone, but that's so awkward for what I'm doing! Thanks for the idea, though. I hadn't thought of that.
My interesting update was going from the trial version of FF2 (I had FF1 pro) to the paid version - that's what seems to have messed me up! I did have an Adobe update recently - can't remember if it was last week - but it was only to CS5. And this new issue is happening in CS3 AND CS5. DebraS |

Some filters contain malformed scripts which cause the Mac version of FF to quit (the same filters work ok in Windows). Please refrain from using scripted filters until the devs get back from the holidays and fix the issue.

I rather say that there is a definite bug in the scripting engine on the mac, but otherwise, you are right GMM ![]() ![]() - I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

Well, this is the difference between the vendor's and the user's points of view ![]() |

Thanks, Totte and GMM for responses!
Scratches head - this issue has gone away just as suddenly as it appeared. I double-checked the updates for both Adobe and FF, so maybe someone slipped one in? The toycamera filter does crash me, but the creator of it sent me a new version and that was a different kind of crash. So how does one know which filters contain "malformed scripts"? Edit post caffeine: Doh. Wrong reply;. Forgot it was some of my favorite filters having the problem. It has NOT gone away. Sorry for any confusion. DebraS |

It is possible that you've downloaded a filter that causes Filter Forge to quit.
Please go to Users > Your_User_Name > Library > Application Support > Filter Forge 2 > System and rename the Library folder to something different (say, Library1). After that try to start Filter Forge again. |

It didn't help to re-name the library. No filters were working - everything gave me a force quit.
I ended up deleting every scrap of FF from my computer. Twice. Shutting down. Reloading FF. Twice. Now - fingers crossed -it's working again. Then, I saw this comment thread: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...ssage86638 The hang up with Sketchy Painting started to make the others hang and then they all stopped working. I'm going to have to figure out to manage this because Sketchy Painting is one of my favorite filters. GMM - how do I know which filters are scripted as you mentioned above? DebraS |

You can search for .ffxml files on your computer that contain the words "Script value". Filter Forge 1.0-compatible filters don't contain scripts as well. |
