This one's pretty obnoxious. It's preventing me from submitting filters to the library, also working with FF3.

Description: FilterForge 3.006 Professional edition crashes upon naming a control. For example, if I start naming a control, FilterForge explodes. I'm using MacOSX Lion 10.7.2.

How to reproduce this bug:
Pretty simple.

1. Open FF 3 as usual.
2. Create / Edit a filter
3. Put a new or edit a control (say for example an int controller).
4. Name your control as usual. If you really want to know, it seems to crash every time I hit a numerical value into the input field, also crashes upon capitalizing via shift key.
5. FilterForge explodes.
6. Optional: If you open FilterForge immediately after the crash, it just crashes again leaving you with a crash report for Apple.

Alright so that's basically all. I don't know if this was reported earlier or not.

We're unable to reproduce that. If the error persists please provide the filter on which it can be reproduced.

Yep, the same here with 10.6.

The only way to avoid this, I have found, is to disconnect the Result component. Make all the edits necessary, and then reconnect the result component as the last edit.

Two things that also strike me as obnoxious:
1) Lifetime upgrade promos, when we don't know what's coming.
2) Persistently requesting the filter that caused the crash.

Has Filter Forge been sold to Adobe?smile:cry:

I had a feeling it was going to be somewhat of a unique problem.

This basically happens with anything I touch, basically meaning that all filters I deal with, edit or make from scratch somehow end up with the same issue so nothing specific here at all.

This work around actually works!! Thank you! smile:)

Just for the sake of it... and I don't know if this helps at all.... I opened Console and FilterForge 3, did exactly what I did on those steps mentioned above in FF3... and here's the log that appeared in relation to it. Just these things appeared (or maybe I missed a bajillion things.)

12/28/11 11:18:41.714 PM [0x0-0x9b09b].com.FilterForge.FilterForge3: Exception caught at thread 0xad1062c0 'Application':
12/28/11 11:18:41.714 PM [0x0-0x9b09b].com.FilterForge.FilterForge3: <XFW::Exception> ::HIThemeGetTrackPartBounds failed with os status paramErr(-50): error in user parameter list.
12/28/11 11:18:42.517 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: ([0x0-0x9b09b].com.FilterForge.FilterForge3[7581]) Exited with code: 255

Again, I don't know if this is useful information. But if there are other places I can be directed to for information, logs I'd be willing to.

Thanks! smile:)

Nevertheless please provide any filter with which you can reproduce the error.

Here's the one I was working on last where I saw trouble happening.

I also downloaded a totally fresh filter from the library and tried retitling the controls and it also crashes filterforge. Here's the last filter I downloaded with: http://www.filterforge.com/filters/9889.html

We've released a hotfix without incrementing the program version that should eliminate the issue (as well as another SetAlpha issue). Please redownload and reinstall from our download page if you experience this crash.
