Cool. That last puffy one looks a bit like the some movie effects where matter is turning into smoke.
Here's something else you can do with a selection. This could be done without Bomber, but it is more fun with it! ![]() |

very impressive on the barbed wire and rope, 3D! i've also looked at your brushstrokes one. making a normal map within the editor and then using that to make the strokes...hold cow, dude, that was simply brilliant. i've been playing with that whole concept and make a couple mods from it. they're on the other computer. i might post it later, but i boiled things down and found that you can make some decent things by just using an external image, bomber and perlin components plugging them in like you did in that filter. very cool stuff!
and ben, wow, i love those puffy ones, especially the last two. i do hope you publish! and way cool on the splash stuff, 3D! ![]() you guys are making me drool! ![]() ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I realized I was making the normal-map-to-angle conversion all too complex. You can basically just extract Hue and you're done

HINTs: Uses a total of 9 nodes. Of those, the part which is used to determine the angles of the particles, is only 4 nodes. Overall. Bloody simple and its fast. So, who can figure this one out? ![]() |

Something like noise + distortion + threshold?
Or perhaps lowpass + noise + threshold? |

![]() ah, i havent played with prof grads and bombers together yet, skybase. that shld prove quite interesting! ok, back to a texture today, instead of an effect. this one is a fiber filter (so far). it's just in the early stages, no controls yet, but you can see the fibers both separated and smushed together somewhat in this. it also seems to have come up with a somewhat corrugated background, which i didnt really expect. still, this one has potential in several ways. i've also found a way to make corrugated meshes... sort of. still working out the precision on that one. here's an example of the fiber one: ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

very cool, meye (i hate typing out your full name
![]() i can see the filter library hitting 10,000 with no problem once FF2 is out. and now i'm going to start sounding like steve... I WANT USER MADE FOLDERS!!! end the chaos! lol. the search feature has helped. thank you for that one, but seriously, this is a standard windows and even mac, type thing. is there really a reason for not having this, at least on the 'my filters' folder? and is it really that tough to implement? to me, it seems like such a small request and yet such a large need. is there something you had to work around to close this off to begin with and couldnt that just be opened back up? vlad, please consider opening this up in the next stage... please? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks, Krae (i don't mind typing out your full name, but i'm not going to
![]() Totally agree on the folder issue. I have so many filter folders that sometimes it's a pain having to shut down FF and change folders. It doesn't really take that long, but after doing it a hundred or so times in a day it gets annoying. Can't figure out why it hasn't been made easier, but I don't know how the program is coded so I can't say really. I'd like to see it set up something like this... Building Misc Organic Stone Techno ----------- Creative Distortions Misc ----------- Favourites Search My Filters_effects My Filters_textures My Filters_objects There could be a master 'My Filters' folder where you'd put any filter folders you want to access through the program and they'd show up on the list. Seems simple enough, but there must be a reason something like that hasn't been done yet. Small issues aside though, version 2 is looking great so far. I'm really looking forward to seeing how things progress. |

Speaking of v2, why isn't Stage 2 out yet? I thought it was supposed to be about a month in between stages.

Another vote for custom user folders, i find it hard to find things sometimes in this program. Sub folders would be nicer still so you have
My Filters > Stone Textures > Stone Tiles My Effects > Color FX > Grunge Colors etc, if that were added it would make sorting things really simple. ![]() |

Yessss, custom folders... please!
Here's a thought, why not use the native file system to organize filters? |
