We have been SO looking forward to this! I was quite excited to find out it was in the latest Beta 4. WOW!!!!

Well, I gave it a shot & this is the result. smile:(
For some strange demented reason, I actually thought it would really make it seamless? I have allot to learn I know.
This was done using Free Gradients. Is that the problem? smile:?:

Have a good evening. smile:)

Free ANYthing is, by definition, NON seamless. This is why the FF staff initially made it so the "Seamless" checkbox would gray out when any component that broke seamless was included anywhere in the filter.

Because there might be a few cases where a non seamless component might be useful in a seamless filter the FF crew simply removed the restriction. This doesn't change how any of these components behaves, it simply lets the components that DO act properly in seamless mode function seamless when mixed with others.

rononnie: The force seamless is very useful when you use free components to build for example bomber particles to create a seamless filter.

This is not necessary. Bomber's Particle inputs are marked as 'seamlessizers' -- they won't disable Seamless Tiling even if you plug non-seamless components into them.

Aha - I have a filter (cammo net) where I use the free gradient to add some extra to particles and that one didn't go seamless until B2.007, maybe you fixed that in 2.007...

Hey KG,

Certain new components seam to disable seamless tiling I found out, I understand Free Gradients is of them.
I had hoped that the Force Seamless option would blend the image to be seamless, not as my post above. Guess I was looking for for the magic button approach, an easy fix so to speak.
Maybe some day it will be there, as I in vision, a blended seamless tiling option with the new components.
I know I have a lot to learn.

Have a good evening. smile:)

?

Are you asking the Free Gradients to be seamless when you've created a condition that makes them not tile? That's like asking a light bulb to make a room darker, it doesn't make any sense: the free components are designed to work this way, they're "free" from the constraints of the image bounds (i.e. they don't pay attention to the edges, thus they have no way of knowing where the "edge" is to tile from).

Here's an image that shows the seamless components working perfectly alongside a free gradient. When you use the Seamless Tile override (It's in the menus of the filter editor) you can see that the perlin noise is working fine and tiles perfectly while the free gradient is just doin' it's thang. This is the intended use of the seamless override. If, for some odd reason, I wanted the gradients to act in this manner (regardless of image size) I could use this filter.

Then if you change the size slider, the free gradient ignores it and stays the same while the perlin shrinks and repeats accordingly
