I realize this must be very common question, but I couldn't find a similar existing thread.
Just bought FF a few minutes ago, and installed into PS CS6, and I was shocked to find the actual plugin appears to only contain about 100 filters!? So then I try to download user filters on this site. But the only "download" I see on the individual filter pages is about downloading FF itself, and the only mention of attaining the user filter is a link box named "Open in Filter Forge". When I click this box my browser (Firefox) disappears and PS appears (it was already open) but the new user filter is nowhere in sight!? I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what! I've closed and reopened PS and FF several times. Also, surely there must be a way to download more than one filter at a time! Downloading 11K+ filters one at a time will take FOREVER! Can anyone point me to a FAQ or link or otherwise help me download and/or install the user filters I need? Thanks! |

You're doing everything right, and your newly downloaded filter should appear in the filter list on the left. However we recommend to download filters in the standalone mode. Please run FF as a standalone program and do it again.
Do you really need all the 11K+? If yes, you may be interested in a single archive of all library filters. |

Thanks GMM. But for whatever reason, the filters I was trying to download were not appearing on the left. But, I used the Filter Forge Library Viewer, and have now downloaded 100s of filters almost flawlessly (had a few preview loading errors on the Misc. filters page - just cleared cache, and tried again).
If anyone else has such user filter downloading problems, you might try using Filter Forge's built-in Library Viewer: Tools > Options > Online > Use the built-in library browser(obsolete), from within the standalone program. This may be an "obsolete" tool, but for now it works well on Win7 x64 and Firefox. Also, using this Library Viewer you can download scores of filters at the same time. And I now realize I don't really want all 11k+ user filters. ![]() But I do wish there was an easy way to add folders and sub-folders and move filters to them in the left hand column folder stack! 90% of everything I will probably use will be within the Creative folder, and a few sub-folders would sure make organizing (Paint, Sketch, Geometric, Grunge, Psychedelic, etc.) the filters easier, as there are now 100s of filters all under one general heading of "Creative". Thanks for all! |

SciFi, try creating folders within your Favorites (see the folder stack) with custom names, such as the ones you mentioned. Then, drag and drop filters into your Favorite folders.
You can always right-click a filter --> "locate category" or "locate file" to see the filter in its actual category/location. |

I am having difficulties downloading as well. In my case, the first time clicking on the blue button, to the right of the filter preview images, a dialogue popped up asking me to link to the program on my Hdd. Because I use Photo-Impact rather than P.S., I figured I needed an association with that for FF to be a plugin rather than a standalone. Unaware I just messed up, I also ticked the checkbox for that dialogue box 'NOT' to appear again. Well, that was an even bigger mistake! I absolutely cannot figure out how to reset and bring that confirmation box back so that I can associate the dl's with FF.
PLEASE...I am in need of advice, Thanx!! BTW...Before uninstalling and then re-installing FF, my Photo-Impact app would try to open for each click of the blue dl button. And now, I get the standard, white file not found page when I click. I screwed up! edit: I fixed my problem by deleting this site's cookies. |
