It can be really simple question but I could not figure it out.
I want to tile a gradient from top left to bottom right with free Horizontal and Vertical count amounts. For example in this image Horizontal Tiles are 3 and vertical tiles are 6. In other words from left to right (top left to right bottom) lightness values should gradually increase. Preview Thank you. Gradient Snippet.ffxml |

Thank you for your answer but yes, please check the first screenshot i've sent.it should increase from left to right or vice versa. For example at the end of first row it should continue to increase value. Imagine we have 3x3 grid; And light values goes like this; 10 20 30..and in the beginning of second row it continues as 40 50 60...

I am not sure, but if for what you want it could help something like this
Be able to make a good color chart inside FF with all the gradients? This has a progressive greyscale chart, although I do not know if it is in the way you want it. |

For this actually;
Link Thanks to Emme who showed me a way to separate and relocate each piece driven by original image's luminosity I thought it might be even better with optional row and column numbers. Imagine for example we don't always have 5x5 25 or 4x4 16...we might need 7x3 or 13x2 (english alphabet). |

Ok sorry, I've just checked the link you've shared, I guess Skybase's filter is exactly what I am looking for.
Thank you Skybase. (Believe me that I had checked it in forums before asking but I hadn't found it) |

I guess I'm wrong since it divides greyscale values equally. It's not about rows/columns it takes it as a whole and applies an increment overall. Sorry. |

Ok sorry for too many posts but I've decreased spacing to 0 and set Tiles horizontally 1 and vertically 10. It gives the same values for brightness. No matter if I change vertical or horizontal values. Once again as I understood it would be useful to separate 10x10 tiled images due to their luminosity values. (Another question is already on the way ; how to separate tiles via their colors but let's solve this for now) |

I have just seen this filter, and has seen that inside it has some greyscale combinations into a grid in some way
see the filter inside how is combined the greyscale gradients before adding the colors that is used to make columns and rows Maybe it does not what you want. Warhol by Garbanzo |

Thank you so much Ramlyn,
Yes it's working great:) Actually what I am trying to achieve is to create a filter which for example takes already tiled image (let's say 10x10 or 5x10 (Your snippet was necessary for it rows/columns)) and reorder from top left to bottom right according to their average luminosity values. As far as I know, you can easily create tiled images with Contact Sheet X kind of scripts. But they don't have an option to order images via their luminosity values. So it can be great to have such a filter. (By the way of course reordering has to be same row and column amount with emme's solution.) In the attachment, there is an already working filter (which was possible by emme's great support) To use the filter you can download this tiled map I've created: ![]() https://www.dropbox.com/s/2jac31peuwsi1f1/led_test.jpg Maybe I am asking too much but if it works I would really get surprised with Filter Forge's power. At the end I want to achieve this kind of look: ![]() Final (Btw I have no idea why my dropbox images aren't showing) Luminosity Photo Mosaic.ffxml |

Ok, to be serious here, since you just made this a lot more complicated:
So let's say your input is a grid of photos, but they aren't in any particular order. You can used the attached filter to get the average value/luminosity of each photo in the grid. If I understand you correctly, you want to put them back into the grid - in order? I think that's possible... In the demo above, the filter picks the small image that best matches the large image, for each tile (using the bomber plus). Are you sure you need to sort the tiled images first? Hello Indigo Ray,
First of all, thank you very much for your support. To clarify, Since I couldn't find such a script or tool in photoshop which generates a photo grid from the multiple images selected from any directory while it reorders images from top-left to bottom-right gradually. Right now it's possible to create custom row and column number greyscale chart thanks to emme. I've used it in the filter I've attached in my previous post. Basically I guess there should be three inputs. (Greyscale Chart, Internal Image Input for premade but unordered photo mosaic and external image.) First, create a greyscale chart with a custom row&column amount. (We've already done it) Second, compare the average luminosity values of each grid unit from the unordered (Order by luminosity) mosaic image internally given by the user. Third, re-order internally given mosaic image with again from greyscale chart's luminosity values. Fourth and lastly, create a photo mosaic of the original image. Right now again thanks to emme first and the last steps are already working. (By the way, I'm writing a script for photoshop which will create photo mosaic from selected images with given row and column numbers. I know there is a Contact Sheet X script but it doesn't bound images in square masks. I'll share it here as well. So I hope using them both will help creating photo mosaics easier and more accurate. I guess ) |

This seems to be very interesting, useful and cool, and is a great idea
Thanks very much Indigo Ray for making this Although the only problem I seeis that you need to have 100 square images to create the 10x10 contact sheet, and all these 100 images must have exactly the same size, so will see how this can be done Maybe it could be possible also to use bomber to create this 10x10 contact sheet with some of the filters available like for example my own colors square filter |

Hello Indigo&Space Ray,
Thank you for your solution Indigo Ray, I've attached the filter and I guess the only thing is merging them together now. By the way, I've tried to submit this filter to the library but it gives these errors; Filters that reference external images cannot be submitted. Filters with potential particle cropping cannot be submitted. Ok I can easily remove external images but for the second warning, it works like this. What I see here is a warning in the bomber plus, but you have not shown what is the text of this warning, but most possible is that this is in reference of not having a particle adapter If this the reason of the warning, then I have the solution and fix shown herein this other thread on second post How to use Particle adapter for bomber plus
You can only use the BUILT-IN images inside filter forge (FF) as image source to be included in a filter that you are going to submit to library, so if you need a 10x10 images grid you need to do it using FF components and then feed them to where the external source should be and make a switch with a color control to replace the internal images with the external images I have already made this in my own Alphabet Creator ANY font filter in the library
Please, can you tell how you have done this 10x10 grid photo mosaic? Is it using the Photoshop Contact Sheet, or any other software or plugin, or maybe using any possible app? Do you have to prepare the 100 photos before doing it? |

Hello Spaceray,
Yes I wrote a script for Photoshop. I'm planning to sell it but I will share here for free since many people are trying to help me. Contact Sheet is very advanced especially Contact Sheet X. (It is an advanced version of default Contact Sheet). Xtools But I wanted to make it with smart objects and mostly in square form depending on row and column amount. And it also tries to fit image into squares comparing width and height values. I'm about to finish it, trying to make a simple interface for it. If you're interested in this script I can share early version here. (By the way I'm a designer, not a coder but trying to learn coding.) And also every day I realize more and more capability of filter forge. I know some basics and general workflow but as I notice I need to deeply understand this sample based architecture issue. For example in map script we return rgba values. Does it stand for coordinates, r for x, g for y and b for brightness. Such questions ![]() Lastly I will try to apply your suggestions as well. For indigo ray's solution it's a bit advanced for me to be honest, and i need to merge it with this filter(i have attached in previous post). So that even it's a randomly tiled contact sheet image, we can reorder each single tile by their luminosity values. After we can apply Emme's solution with it. |

Hello again Spaceray, I tried to apply your suggestions but unfortunately it still gives the error. I also read this forum thread but it seems unsolved. I've tried multiple combinations but couldn't figure it out. Maybe you can check the filter itself.

Sorry that my Dropbox does not work now, so I can tell that is very easy to fix,
just add the particle adapter after the Image component and also after the color control and this will make the warning go away meanwhile I will try to add the filter here anyway |

Do you mean that the images loaded from the 10x10 grid would be ordered by the average lightness of each of the 100 images? or according to the lightness value of a given source image? |
