Confused about versions

I have a lifetime upgrade that I bought a couple years back. Today I upgraded to version 13. I went to edit a project I'd created a while back, and it told me I couldn't edit a project with the Pro version, and instead had to upgrade to the Studio version.
I don't think I've ever had the Studio version, so how was I able to create a project in the past with the Pro version?

Or have you never been able to create or edit a project with the Pro version?

Projects have never been available in Filter Forge Professional: projects were introduced with version 10 and are only available in the free trial version and Studio edition only.
