Hi

Just downloaded the trial and it looks very promising. Before I decide whether I want to buy it or not I did notice one thing that puts me off a bit. There are a lot of filter for download which is great, but, if I click 2000+ times to download them and then say I have a harddrive crash and need to reinstall, does that mean I have to redownload all the filters or is there a way you can back them up to CD etc. For me this is a real turn off of the program, because it looks great with so many filters and all but if I spend $100+ dollars on it and then have to keep clicking 3000 odd times every time I reformat etc. then this is going to get very annoying.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on this.

You can go to 'Tools > Options > Online tab and activate the 'built-in library browser', which allows for mass-downloading.

Also, by default all library filters are located in the "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Filter Forge\System" folder, which you could backup.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. This information makes the program way more appealing. It is a very awesome filter and is one that will very quickly become a favorite I am sure.

To quickly locate the folder, press Ctrl+L (or choose Filter > Locate File from the main menu) in the main Filter Forge window.

I am also using the trial version (Filter Forge is amazing!)and am just curious as to why the built-in library browser is shown as 'obsolete' in the options panel. Having just used it I am amazed at how quick and useful it is.

BeeELLEcee, the built-in browser is shown as "obsolete" because it dates back to the times of the beta and is regarded as cumbersome. The website with its "Open in Filter Forge" button, on the contrary, is viewed as a quicker and more convenient way to open filters.

The built-in browser, however, is fully functional, and if you prefer it to the website -- you are welcome to use it.

Hi Bella - I have used both the built-in browser, and the web site to download filters. Both work brilliantly though I have to say the built-in version just 'flows' slightly faster for me. There are just so many filters!! smile:D smile:D smile:D
