I'm a PS2 "Armored Core" fanatic and I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who plays??? I havent played in a while because it is addictive and time consuming.....and haven't had the time.....but I still love the game. I'm waiting for something like it to come online like "Worlds of Warcraft". I'm enticed by the endless mech constructions (half the fun), strategies, wide range of weapons, etc.....

I can't wait for mech battle gameplay to reach the levels of this video. The mech battle is after the Animie promo.....or click link, cancel, then click link again to skip the promo and start with the mech battle for "Armored Core: Last Raven" (maximize screen when it starts for full effect).....

man, that's straight out of 'Terminator' as far as the look and feel. i played mech warrior II and III for the pc, and i think maybe IV. i forget. the last two in the series you could play online, which was fun, but the hackers in the first online one made it no fun any more. the last one was pretty good, though, and i've even got some of the expansion packs for that.

and yeah, the mech construction was half the fun, which is mostly why i got the expansion packs, for better upgrades and models.

Cool!!! I have those PC "Mech Warrior" games and expansion paks.....and loved playing up until I discovered the PS2 "Armored Core" series.....alot more options, much better graphics, and superior gameplay.....

If you have that, then you must have PC "Total Anihilation"???

hehe, well, i dont have any console computers, so if armored core is only console, then i'm out on that one. and mech warriors was the game that finally prompted me to get a REAL joystick, one of those umpteen button things smile:)

oh yeah, i loved TA. made maps for that one. and got at least one of the expansion packs. that one would have been great to have had FF around to add textures!

Me too!!! I went out an got one of those realistic flight sticks with all the bells and whistles just for "Mech Warrior".....then discovered it was great for flight games. It has been collecting dust for a while.....but I would love to dust it off for some online gameplay. It's a serious waste of valuable time.....but I like it smile;) smile:)

It would be great if we could all find a game by which we could customize our characters with FF textures......which I'm sure your Monster could be used to do some really cool things..... smile:)

Do you still play TA???

Here is a cool mech pic posted by onnetz......

hehe, yeah, 'monster' characters smile:)

what would be really cool in the gaming world, the online and offline stuff, is a real construction kit type, somewhat like NWN 2 but even more sophisticated (and less scripting smile:) ). imagine a procedural game, one done up like FF's system, but for gaming and creating game universes and character modeling and so on. NVN 2 is pretty damn slick, but the real power resides in the scripting and most (read, ME) shy away from that because it's 'code'.

just an example: i've been doing the stock placing of objects and monsters in NWN 2 now and that's pretty easy, but i've hit the point where i want to do more, like getting creatures to spawn regularly and walk around. that seems to be all scripts and i'm having to go through tons of the pre-made ones to find the things i want and still havent gotten one to spawn on its own yet. so, having to learn 'code', even if it's just script, is somewhat daunting. if there was a simple component you plugged in that was called 'creature spawn' and you added that to a location (or even random location) and then set its parameters (internal sliders) and connected that to other components for 'time', 'location', 'call familiar', 'call buddies' and all the other factors one can conceive for such things,... many, that would be incredible.

i realize that the scripts basically ARE the components and the various parameters within the scripts are the sliders, and i also realize that you can add one script to another to extend or modify it's uses and workings, and that that is like connecting another component, but if the thing were as slick as FF.... boy, what a dream game construction kit that would be!

I imagine that someone is going to do just that one of these days. I suggested that FF get into a node-based 3D app, but Vlad doesn't want to go there with all the other 3D apps out there. I would think that someone one of these days is going to take FF idea and apply it to 3D apps.....so I thought FF should beat them to the punch.....

Yes, that would be something smile:devil:

Well, which one do you think would be the best for all those interested here to play online together.....without having a monthy expense??

NWN 2 is probably our best bet so far. lots of stuff we can tweak if we like and quite a few persistent worlds, lots of character types and ways to go with your characters, plus it has the DM feature, where a referee can oversee what's going on. it's got a lot of potential for gaming together.

I would need a new graphics card before I could play NWN 2 according to the site Jan sent me to. It says mine will work, but basically at the lowest acceptable. smile:| I would like to play it with all of you though, but it might now be until after the New Year is you can wait that long.

I would like a link to that Kai site please, Steve.

I believe the software is a free download.....but you will need a cross-over cable from your XBox (?) to your computer ($10.00), DSL/High Speed modem (I think you have?), and the games (used $5.00 - $10.00 each).....

Click "Help / Quick Start" from this site.....might be too complicated.....let me know what you think smile:)

Yeah, just plug each end into a port on each computer.....setup a shared folder or whatever you want read in each computer.....then you have to re-start both computers.....

sounds too simple. i had a lan for a short while with an xp machine and a win98 machine, linked through a router. the crossover sounds too easy. is it the same as a router hookup in that both computers can talk to each other fairly easily or is it a more simple link like just being able to pass files back and forth? and could you control the one computer from the other? and could they both access the internet through just the one that was hooked up to the net?

oh, and btw, i wouldnt be opposed to a little armored core wars multi. looks pretty cool. not sure the ladies would be interested but i did have fun in mech warriors.

and another way we might hook up with each other in any game is xfire. it's a search for gamers type service.

Yeah, it is very simple, just a cable......and no, you can't control one computer from the other.....you can just pass files back and forth by putting them in shared folders or making folders shared for the other computer to read.....

Doing the Mechs would be cool.....but you're right, the ladies wouldn't care too much for that type of game.....it's a man thing smile;) smile:D LOL.... I do want to first try something we could all do together.....like the game you and Jan are working on.....if Manon and Carl like that one too.....

It's Sci- Fi shooter with some complexity to story - interreaction with characters - some cool weapons [ anti-gravity gun is a beauty ] and good graphics, stealth and finding solutions to situations - I don't know what a multi player things like smile:)
