I cannot even start the new FF 4.006 under Windows (XP SP3). Never had this problem with previous versions. When trying to start FF 4, I'm getting this error message:

<class XFW::OSCallError> ::GetFileAttributesExW(path '\\?\UNC\?\C:\Programme\Filter Forge 4\Resources', GetFileExInfoStandard) failed with error code 0x000004CF: Das Netzlaufwerk ist nicht erreichbar. Weitere Informationen über die Behebung von Netzwerkproblemen finden Sie in der Windows-Hilfe. The German text basically says: "Unable to detect the network drive. For more information on how to eliminate network problems please consult Windows Help." FF 4 has installed correctly to C:\Programme\Filter Forge 4. I've uninstalled and reinstalled FF 4, but, unfortunately, to no avail. Any idea what the problem might be? Your help will be appreciated. Hans-Joachim |

Just a guess but maybe since their seems to be a network drive involved perhaps that is where FF is trying to use for temp files....Try going to the "Tools" menu then "Options"...Then under the rendering tab use the C drive as the temp location...

			Thanks for your guess, CFandM!

Problem is, I cannot start FF. When I try to start the standalone or call FF by way of a plugin from inside an image processing prog, I get the error message described in my original post. So, unfortunately, no way using a menu... |

Sorry that I do not understand why Filter Forge needs to detect the network drive, can you explain more and specify more the details?

Could it be perhaps a problem with the network and not with Filter Forge? Sorry that I do not know really what is the problem |

			Hi GMM!

I'm really happy to learn that this issue doesn't seem to be just a PC and/or Windows chimera. While waiting for the program update, sighing with relief and exercising patience! Thanks in advance! |

			Hi GMM,

on December 3 you said the issue I have addressed would be fixed with a program update "within the next several days". I'm patient. Still, a week has passed... I have a lifetime license. FF has become an integral part of my image processing workflow. That's why I NEED to be able to use the program. |

Hans-Joachim, we have released a silent update without incrementing the version number. Please download and reinstall the latest FF version from the download page.

Sorry for not posting this yesterday when the update went live. |

Hi GMM, thanks a lot! You should, actually, be very, very LOUD about the "silent" update! Works like a breeze! And, compared to the original FF 4.006 version, is lightning FAST! If I were you, I, immediately, would send a message to ALL FF users / owners, making them aware of the availability of this update which seems to fix a lot of issues. Excellent work! |
