I've been using FF 4.0 without incident since I purchased it in December. Suddenly today, every time I try to open a filter in FF, I get an error pop up "Unable to connect to the server. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, disabled my anti-virus software, cleared my cache, restarted my pc and nothing is making a difference. Even if I try to use FF as a plug in with photoshop and try to download a new filter, I get the error message. Is anyone else having this issue? I even went so far as to download it again and install it outside the programs folder, but still get the error message. Not a happy camper here. |

I'm experiencing the same thing tonight. Glad I'm not the only one. Thought I might have an internet issue, but everything is working fine.

Well at least I'm not the only one Sherrie, but that doesn't help either of us use the software we've paid for

I've never had an issue until today and now that two others have chimed in with the same issue, I highly doubt it's a firewall issue. I did disable my anti-virus and it made no difference. I'm thinking it's an issue on their end that needs to be corrected.

Well then, that's 4 of us who are unable to use the software and there's a good chance a lot of people either haven't tried to download a filter today/tonight or they're not checking the forums.

This is NOT a problem with Filter Forge software or your computer, the problem is with the message given, that as it can´t connect to the server, directly thinks that you are not connected to the internet, and does not give any other possible reason, and obviously you ARE connected to the internet because you would not have been able to post this here
![]() ![]() Please see this other thread "Please make sure you are connected to the internet" error message Also be aware that this has been happening many times already through the years, and is only something temporal and this is fixed by itself after some time Also would be good to avoid waiting for an answer to search in the forum if this error has happened before and making a search you would see that this has happened many times before Unable to connect to the server If this error given is because you are trying to download a filter then it will useful and helpful that you read this other thread and see if any of the possible solutions could help you BEFORE Posting an error downloading FF filters PLEASE see this thread |

SpaceRay, the fact it's happened in the past does us no good now. All that means is they've had an issue in the past that continually happens and that is what needs to be addressed. I visited those threads before starting this one. I searched the forums and tried what few suggestions were given to correct the issue, but none of them worked. Are you a moderator or one of the developers?

I had the same problem which was resolved by deleting my browsing history in Internet Explorer. At the top of IE click on Tools --> Internet Options --> under Browsing History click the DELETE button. Try downloading a filter and filter Forge will ask you to allow cookies. That fixed the problem for me.

Do not feel bad or affraid about this problem, although it has happened already many times before it gets fixed by itself in a few hours, and from what I remember is always in less than 24 hours I have to say also that this is not very frequent and does not happen many times to be something annoying
Well, if the problem is with the server itself, there is nothing you can do by yourself to fix it, only wait until it works again But for this you must be sure that the problem is not on your side, and one of the best ways to test if the server is working WITHOUT using any browser that could add problem is to use the OLIFF because this connects directly to the server, the only thing you must be sure with this method is that the firewall you may have is not blocking the connection If you do not know what the OLIFF is, please see this thread that explains it Advantages and Disadvantages of using the OL and OLIFF Filters Library |

I had the same problem last night and for unrelated reasons I cleaned out my browser (Firefox) history. Actually it was a windows disk cleanup which gets rid of all the temporary internet files among others on your computer. Today I downloaded a filter without a problem so it must be a snag in the temp files that causes it.

No,I have no relation with Filter forge and do not belong to the company
Good to know, and if the problem could be because of a cache files, cookies or temporal files is easy to solve and just clean the cache of temporal files and cookies, try again and see if this fixed it, or use a different browser that does not have the same cache and cookies. As I told already in the above an alternative to know if the problem is with the browser is to use the OLIFF that will connect DIRECTLY to the download server and if this Works right, then the problem is the browser. 2 - TRY MANY DIFFERENT BROWSERS ____________________________________________________________________________________ Probably you are trying to downloading to download one filter with ONE of the available browsers, and after trying many times you can´t do it. Have you tried to download the same filter with ANOTHER DIFFERENT browser ? It has happened to me that sometimes using one browser it does not work, BUT when I try another I CAN get it to download. Do not ask why this happens. There are at least 5 very well known and popular browsers available: Firefox Opera Google Chrome Internet Explorer Safari (Windows and Mac versions) USING INTERNET EXPLORER Be aware that Internet explorer have 2 versions, one for 32 bit and another for 64 bit, and they work in different way, and sometimes one can see well a webpage and the other can´t. Also if you use Internet Explorer you can activate the "Compatible view" option by clicking on the first icon after the loupe close to URL address box. Looks like a page cut in half. This sometimes can solve and fix things, please try it with and without. IS RECOMMENDED ALSO TO USE THE LATEST VERSION OF THE BROWSERS The browser are updated and have many versions changed very frequently, so if you are having a problem, is possible that in a newer version, this have been already been fixed. |
