Each day I accent to checking for updates. I get a message that there are none. Today I got a response that there were 7 filter updates. I went to Tools, Filter updates which resulted in 2 filters being displayed in the window.

I then went to this website to check on the other 5 filters. Low an behold, I have been downloading new filters for the last 7 or 8 hours, one at a time.

Is it me, or is there a problem with the program. Is there no automatic filter update anymore? smile:cry:

Suzanne,

Did you download those two filters that were displayed in the Filter Updates window? If yes, then please go to Tools > Filter Updates again and see how many are displayed now. And what were the names of the two filters (if you remember that)?

BTW, I don't know what you mean by automatic filter updates. They never were automatic, as far as I know. Automatic _checking_ for updates, yes. But not downloading them.

Also, new filters on the website and updates are different things. You cannot download an update from the website, you have to use the Tools > Filter Updates form for that, or switch to the old-style Filter Library.

Hi Bella,

I did download the 2 filters, but don't know what happened to the other 5.

I just went to Tools>Filter Updates and there are no filters for me.

Sorry about the terminology error. The "automatic checking" was really the built in Library browser that is now obsolete. It was great!!! You could click on "Download more filters" and new filters automatically downloaded into the FF program. Now, I have to go to the website and search for what is new, then download each new one separately. That is a major pain. As I said, I spent 7-8 hours today downloading new filters. It never took that long with the built in browser. It was fast. I'm not using the built in browser because it is obsolete and not recommended. Why did that change?

Yes, I know the difference between updates and new filters, I just go senile every once in a while when I try to explain something. smile:blush:

Thank you Suzanne, we'll be checking the Filter Updates function.

As for the old built-in Filter Library, you can easily revert to it if you prefer. You can do it in Tools > Options > Online > "Download new filters" command > Use the built-in library browser.

Using the old-style library browser is not recommended just because there is a newer version which is thought to be more convenient smile:) But the old library is still fully functional and can well be used too.
