Hi guys, installed FF about 2-3 days back. was adding new filters, yeah yeah its amazingly versatile, some lovely filters submitted etc etc. i loaded/installed a few filters probably too fast maybe and whilst rendering/loading a new filter on a fairly small 1000x1000 pixel pic it crashed.
i tried to restart it, it just hangs after about a second after clicking icon. i sorta see the scrollbars and outside of the main window. but it freezes. i have a memory monitor app. i plonked that on and looked. my ram was going down from 300mb for 0mb swiftly. Only thing i cud do was to ctrl/alt/del pick the filter factory exe out of the process list /right click and terminate. that shut the frozen window. i noticed in processes list two exes running one was filterfactory.exe and other was the sspx86.exe or sumthing, i cant quite remember the exact titles. i rebooted pc no luck still freeezes when opening. i uninstalled (twice) and installed once from original setup file i downloaded a few days back, next time with a new download from the site tonight. Still freezes . My memory optimizer app shows free ram plummeting from like 250mb to 0mb again as it hangs..... Same window border and scrollbars showing only, rest of window 'clear' , unable to close using X button, only way to stop the load/crash is to ctrl/alt/del, & terminate running process WHAT HAS HAPPENED. sorry for the waffle but cos i cant get on it, i got baked instead, also if i tell u everything in one go i wont need to repost after someone asks me what happened. if it makes any difference AMD Sempron 3300+ running at like 2200, nvidia gforce fx5500 graphics card... windows xp. 512mb ram etc lol any help please lemme know. brilliant plugin and was working for 2 nights no problems! SPACEFACE (theres 3 exe files in the BIN folder installed. i tried clicking all 3. no luck) all this happened in the standalone version, but i just tried as a photoshop plugin and same crash |

We've fixed this error and uploaded a hotfix. Please download the new .exe file from http://www.filterforge.com/download/
After this, it will be safe to use Frozen Stalactites ![]() |

bella, this is something we have to download manually? all i see in the downloads is the setup.exe. we just download that and install over the current install?

I'm having the same problem with the filter "Wooden Criss Cross". I can't open FF...what do I have to do to fix this?
Thanks, Donna ![]() |

Hi Donna. Have you downloaded the latest exe file with the hotfix as mentioned above by Bella? I got the latest one and the "Wooden Criss Cross" is working ok here. If you haven't downloaded it, do it and install it. If the new installation doesn't work, I would suggest you to send the bug report to FF team. The 2nd thing is delete the filter from your database. I mean, the "Wooden Criss Cross" filter number is 2254. So, find the file Library_2254-1.ffxml and delete or rename it to .old. This file used to be into the folder C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Filter Forge\System\Library and C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Filter Forge\System\Cache
After deleting or renaming them you will get to open FF up again. Good luck. |

Hi Lucato, Thanks.
I deleted the Wooden Criss Cross filter and now FF is back to normal. I have not downloaded the latest exe file with the hotfix (did that come out SINCE we were given our free copies?) I'm afraid to do anything more now because it's working fine. (I know, I'm a coward!) LOL Thanks again. Donna ![]() |

You're welcome. Yup, the hotfix was launched after the free copies and you can download and install it with no problem. Don't need to be afraid.
Download it from here: http://www.filterforge.com/download/ So, after you install it, you will be safe to use the Wooden Criss Cross and Frozen Stalactites. ![]() Best wishes, Lucato. |
