Just did a reinstall of FF due to a complete wipe of my home pc. After entering the license data within the admin account, I logged in with a restricted privileges account (which I intend to use for work, surfing, etc.) and - behold - FF starts as a trial version! So, after entering the license data again on the restricted user account all works fine, but still: What's up with FF 'losing' the registration between accounts?

In short -- it's because FF is licensed per-user, not per-machine.
The following is the excerpt from the EULA (check the bold text): 2. Grant of License. 2.1. License. ... d). Standard License. Unless otherwise specifically provided under valid invoicing, purchase order or licensing terms accepted by Licensor in writing (e.g. trial, beta, or multiple user license as specified in a contemporaneous purchase order or agreement) granted by the Licensor upon registration of the Product (online or otherwise as provided by Licensor), Licensee is granted a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to Operate one (1) copy of the specified major version of the Product by one user account in the operating system (“Userâ€) during the Term of this Agreement on one Client Device provided that if multiple or volume License is purchased, the number of the Client Devices and the number of permitted users shall be as provided and permitted by invoicing terms or applicable terms and conditions set forth on the Licensor’s website www.filterforge.com at the time of purchase of the License. The Licensor reserves all rights not expressly granted herein. |

I had some ram that went bad, and it caused 2 main FF probs, 1) not reading HDRI lighting maps and erroring/crashing, and 2) starting up in trial mode til I re-entered the license code. No idea why dying ram would cause those 2 particular probs, but just to illustrate, that almost any kind of outside probs can cause weird stuff to happen including losing the key code or not finding it in the registry etc.

Ok, I 'kind of' see the rationale behind it. What if - as in my case - two accounts are used for safety/security reasons? Well, I guess I'll have to install FF on the restricted privileges account (haven't tested yet wether that's possible), as I don't like to go online with admin privileges... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Will the DropMyRights app solve the issue? Web surfing with the limited account, working offline as the admin -- all this without logging off ![]() And the MakeMeAdmin tool for the opposite scenario. |

Crapadilla, you should be able install under admin user, but enter license key under restricted one.
