In both 2 and 3 beta, I get the attached error message. I uninstalled both 2 and 3 and cleaned up any references left in the registry and system drive (ie. the ff log files), rebooted and re-installed FF2, and I still get the error. This occurs in standalone and as a plugin.

I am unable to use the product I bought!

Win7 64bit, Photoshop CS3, plenty of storage despite the error message!

GeorgeR, please goto Help > About and check you've got the latest version 3.005.22345.37234 from October 20th. if not, please redownload the latest version from our beta page.

I can hardly go to the About menu if I can't even get it to start! I downloaded the latest beta but I get the same error. At this point i'd be happy to get 2.0 to work just so I can use it!

Do you use a proxy server or have a direct connection to the Internet?
Is your Filter Forge version registered (ie no splash screen is shown on startup)?

Hello,

Reading the error message I have got a possible idea. IF it happens the same error to BOTH FF 2.011 and FF 3.0 Beta 3.05 it could be a problem with another thing or can be windows related.

Not enough storage is available to complete this opeartion

Could it possibly be that there is NOT enough Storage space in the C: system drive to install all the needed files for Filter Forge ???

I mean that you need to install FF in the C: drive and it needs to store all the library and needed files in the APPDATA and if the windows is fighting with a very short space in the C: drive it could be this that

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where is stored the Photoshop Scratch disk ? Is it stored also in the C: drive ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS SYSTEM

When was the last time that you have cleaned the system windows from temporary and garbage files ?

Please, you could use the excellent and wonderfull free program called CCleaner that would make a very good and safe clean of all the temporay and files that are not used anymore and clean them out.

Please go to www.ccleaner.com or the direct link http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
download and install it and use the FIRST tool, cleaner.

even if you uninstall and install again, if your windows is "dirty" it will happen the same error again probably.

I have no less than 20gb free on each drive including my system drive. I uninstalled both versions again, and ran that CC cleaner. I reinstalled the latest 3.0 beta and got the same error.

It was registered but not after I uninstalled and cleanup my registry.

GeorgeR, this issue is not related to the amount of free space on disk but to some network settings. Let me know if you have a proxied or a direct Internet connection.

Also, do you use a firewall or Comodo Internet Security software?

I don't use any third party security software, only Windows 7 MSE. My internet connection is through a network (via 2 switches and a router). It does use any proxy server.

GeorgeR, please locate the following file:

%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\Options.xml, open it in a text editor and make sure you have the following options set:

<FilterLibrary>
<LibraryCheckType value="0"/>
<UsageStatsSendingType value="0"/>
<InternetConnectionType value="1"/>
<UseWebLibrary value="true"/>
</FilterLibrary>

Interesting solution and fix, could be useful when other things do not work.
