I want to open this thread to solve the problem of "importing" filter presets that has been uploaded to the forum and that it seems that there are some mysterious problems that need to be solved
Ghislaine have made this great and beautiful filter GF Optical Illusion (Spiro-wire) BUT as FF Inc. ONLY allows 20 presets ![]() Ghislaine has been very kind to upload a file with the 45 new presets that could not be included in the SHORT AND RESTRICTED ![]() So instead of hijacking and littering Ghislaine thread I want to continue the problem solving in this thread. If you are interested to know what the problem is follow from the 4th post onward on Ghislaine´s thread link here above. I WILL MAKE MY OWN PRESETS FILE FOR ADDITIONAL PRESETS THAT COULD NOT BE PUT INSIDE THE Spirograph Break Out filter and so we can test it also with another different filter. |

Sapceray, the problem here is very peculiar... There's TWO parts in the mystery.
Ghislaine's presets XML file gives you an error, because the <Presets> line has a minus sign (-) infront of it. so instead of
You have
After removing that extra character, the XML no longer gives the invalid presets file error, but the presets are all screwed up. For the life of me, I can't think of any reason whatsoever why ghislaine's xml file (That she uploaded TWICE) has that extra '-' in the <Presets> line. If it doesn't work for us, it shouldn't work for her. If it works for her, it should also work for us. The second thing is the presets themselves. * Why do we have so many duplicate presets? Obviously, Ghislaine didn't save the same preset 7 times at random places. * Why do some of the presets make no sense? They look like a big square, untill you play with the Type slider control, then they look like they should. Obviosly Ghislaine saved the presets with the right setting on the Type control slider, so why are we getting the wrong setting? * why do some preset preview show us something, and the actual render is totaly different? If anyone has any ideas, please share them. If anyone from FF dev team wants to look into this, we'd love to hear what you have to say! If FF inc. planted some kind of an anti preset sharing protection into FF, please let us know, so we won't go crazy ![]() |

Very well observed the - <Presets> I have been making a comparison between Ghislaine file and another preset file and could not find any difference, BUT you have found it, very well done.
I Think that the problem can be probably that there is MORE than JUST the presets and they probably could have another register in the Librarystructure.xml file OR somewhere else. When I shared with you my presets of Ball Pit filter it worked, and when you shared your Volumetric Explosions it worked well, SO what is different from Ghislaine presets? My own presets I shared with you has been done AFTER the filter has been published How have you done your presets from the Volumteric Explosions? |

After Publish.
The onlu thing that I could think of, is that Ghislaine made a minor change to the filter, right before she submitted it. That could be the reason why the presets don't make sense to FF. But that's just a guess, and I have no way of knowing if it's true. Next time I upload a filter I need to remember making alot of presets BEFORE submitting the filter, and try uploading the rest of the presets after it's in the library. |

OH, Yes! This could be happening without knowing it, and is true that could be possible because this has happened to me ! Before I would submit the Spirograph filter I had already all the presets, BUT then decided to change one thing, AND SURPRISE I had that the presets did NOT look the same as when I have made them and did not know what happened. I was lucky that I had a backup copy of it Before making the last change and then I could submit it.
YES AND NO ! Yes in that is good to make many presets for the filter and is useful for the user, BUT I do NOT agree that you are forced to make ALL the presets BEFORE you submit the filter. I mean that if when you are building and testing the filter you have already made a lot of presets that have the built-in-images inside (as none of the presets with external images are valid) and this amount is over 20 presets and you are forced to delete the excess of the filters then I agree that will be good to share this excess of presets that will not be allowed in the submit wizard. BUT WHY would you want to make OVER 20 preset BEFORE you submit the filter if you have NOT made them before already? I mean that it would be much easier to make those presets AFTER the filter is published BECAUSE then you will have all the new presets in a file in the "my presets" folder and you would only need to copy this file and upload it in the forum and the receiver would ONLY need to copy it to the "my presets" folder AFTER having downloaded already the filter related. If you make MORE THAN 20 of the presets BEFORE you submit the filter, all this presets will be stored inside the filter XML file and have to: 1 - search for them inside the filter 2 - copy all the presets to a text file 3 - the user receiving it will have to open the XML of the filter 4 - search inside the filter where are the presets 5 - paste this text of the presets in the right place inside the filter 6 - Be very careful not to touch, modify or delete ANY other part of the filter that could make it invalid. I am NOT saying with this that you DO NOT make over 20 presets BEFORE you submit the filter, what I mean is that if you can make the presets AFTER you submit it will be easier to share them, but if you have already made them when testing the filter is OK also. |

Hi guys !
I think that I found the answer... (maybe, I'm not sure) I had few presets containing my own images to fill the spirowires. So we all know that FF Inc. no not take our own images. Is this answer can help you ![]() visit https://gisoft.ca |

Ghislaine I have one question:
When did you make this 45 extra presets BEFORE or AFTER you submit the filter to the FF library?
This could be possible I will see it |

YES!! I have found it inside your presets filter
<ColorMapControl id="colormapcontrol 01"> <InputImage value="C:\Users\ghislaine\Faire pour 3dstudio\carved-wood pattern-gene-2.jpg"/> <HorizontalAnchor value="1"/> I seems to appear in 4 of the presets ____________________________________________ I have tried to copy directly all your presets inside the XML filter file and it also works well and shows me that i have 66 FACTORY presets ![]() Please Ghislaine, Could you show us a screenshot of HOW really look like the real and original presets, I mean the ones you really have in your filter ? |

SpaceRay, the reasoning behind making more than 20 presets BEFORE submitting the filter is for test purposes only. I just want to know if there's a difference between the before and after presets, as it might shed some light on why Gigi's presets don't work for us, while mine work for you and yours work for me.
I agree that there's no other reason to make all the presets before submitting, and that it's harder for you to share those presets than making them with a my presets file. |

OK I give to you my own image that I use for those 4 presets. You can keep the image. Try those 4 presets and you will get exactly what I made.

I Think I have fixed the 45 extra presets for you Ghislaine, I hope that now this time it works right. I have tested it and for me it works, let´s hope that for all of you too.
I have removed the external links to the missing images and have rebuilt the data and made it an external "my presets" file. This file must be copied to your "my presets" folder with your Filter Forge CLOSED. So next time you open FF it will have 45 extra presets. [ Library_10649.xml ] |
