Hello,
I had one idea that I do not know if it would be possible to make, but anyway I will explain it. I have the suggestion that to open the FF filters to a new world and open new doors to creativity, could there be a way to be able to import your own images, and then use them to create creative things and effects with the components, AND THEN KEEP THIS IMAGE (or images) EMBEDDED INSIDE THE FILTER so you could submit it to the FF library, and then others could use the filter WITH those images you have put inside and NOT only with the built-in images. I think this could open a whole new way to make effects and filters as this could rise much the possible texture creations and be able to make much more patterns WITHOUT having to always make them using ONLY the FF generated textures as it happens now. I mean, this would be like it happens in Microsoft Word, you make a letter and you include in the document some photos toghether with the text, and then you send this letter by email WITH those photos EMBEDDED inside the same file and so the receiver can see those photos too without having to send them separately. I do not know if you can imagine and think about the great and huge potential that this could offer to Filter Forge and change the way filters are created and offer much more versatility and creativity. |

One big problem I can see with that is copyrights.....FF would have to police all those filters or deal with take down notices.....It would be just a big headache IMHO............
Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

CFandM is right: Filter Forge won't have an easy way to embed images due to copyright reasons. But there is a workaround for those who know what they're doing.

What's the resolution limit on the workaround script?
Can anyone script a JPG to Lua converter? |

There is no hardcoded resolution limit but bitmaps over 100x100 will be very slow to process in Filter Forge.

How very slow would very slow be? Let's say on an avarage computer, a 800x600 image, how long (not looking for a seconds accuracy, just a rough estimate)? |

OK that copyright could be a problem, but it cold be put some rules to NOT use any kind of brands, or famous persons, or other copyrighted things. And also surely the embedded image will be transformed and changed, OR if it used with Bomber will be much different fr om the original. BUT OK, if this could be a source of problems and much work for FF Inc. I agree to not to do it.
If the limit is 100x100 this is really useless and not worth at all. How would you get something interesting with 100x100 images ???? And if used larger would be very slow, so there is no choice. Sorry but I am not interested in this workaround. Could you have any other idea ? |

Oh, another thing I wanna ask...
If 100x100 pictures are OK, will having 10 images that size take as long to process as a 1000x1000 image, or will it be considerably faster? |

Will this 10 images be different ? Or the same one multiplied by 10 ? (Suposse is the first one? I think this would depend also on how many images you can use using this workaround with the LUA Script. IF I have just ONE 1000x1000 image and then I cut into 10 images of 100x100, would it work better and faster as suggests Morgantao ? |

That's what I was thinking of SpaceRay
![]() If 10 pictures of 100x100 are reasonably fast, I guess we could put them togather into a whole 1000x1000 picture. |

I want to put and example of what I mean with images embedded inside the filter, because as said an image is better than a 1000 words.
For example I have seen this filter Beetle collection by Sjeiti ![]() As you can see this are like small "photos" of real bettles but really they are built with FF components and are not photos. SO I want to ask HOW could build and generate THIS image collage below with FF components? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
