Not a big deal but I think it would be a nice option to be able to name presets. It would give the end user more of an idea of what its going to do rather than just looking at the image..

Oh hey, you are full of great ideas, onnetz!
I would enjoy that feature too. Sometimes I have run and re-run them so I can remember out of all my presets just exactly why I saved them ![]() ~Foxxee~
You are more than welcome to use and learn from my FF filters ;) |

This feature gets requested every month and a half, and they haven't done it yet, so I kinda doubt it's gonna happen anytime soon. Personally I don't want to name 20 presets, I don't really enjoy naming the filters ha-ha. But seriously, if you feel the need to name each preset, then chances are you either have too much free time on your hands, or your filter is biting off too much territory and could be trimmed down to do a hair less and be more specific and better as a result. A filter should be easily represented with 9 presets with no names. Between the name of the filter, the category it's in, and 9 whole examples, if you can't "define" it with that much room, then it needs work, one way or the other.

Well, hey, I'm not FF, they can decide to do it any time, I'm just saying, yer not at all the first person to ask, and they still haven't done it yet, so that just kinda tells me it's not a high priority. You might check the feature request wiki though and see if that request has a reply yet, some of them say like "pending, low priority", or "no ay, don't ask again", or "working on it now etc.".

Named presets is an interesting idea, but not before we implement custom images for preset previews (if we will implement them at all)

i'd rather have moveable presets. drag and drop em where and how you want to order them.

I'd settle for keeping the current preset *on* when ya go into edit mode. Sometimes I want to see how/why a certain preset is looking weird, and I have to make it the main default so that when I go into the editor I can trace it's path through the design. Not a huge deal, just change the main preset for a minute, but kind of a hassle, and something that'd probably be super easy to implement is all.

Strange. I'm having no trouble activating any of my presets from WITHIN the filter editor. Actually, I use this to debug filters. Randomize a filters controls on the main UI until you find a setting that breaks the look of the filter, then add this as a preset. Enter the editor, go to 'Filter Controls > Presets tab' and activate the culprit by double-clicking on it. Voila! Happy debugging! Just make sure you don't hit save with this preset on, or it will become the default preset. ![]() ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Yes, double-click on your default preset again to load it's control values before saving. Otherwise these will be overwritten with the current presets' control values.
Alternatively, you could also select the little box under the Result component labeled 'Filter Controls' and navigate to the Presets tab, or - even more convenient - just hit the 'F' key. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

just one note on the F key. this will only work if no components are currently highlighted. so, click the mouse on the workspace first to un-highlight any of those and then hit F

I must be running a pre 2.0 beta of FF then... hitting 'F' works here, regardless of any prior selection whatsoever. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

hmmm, i'll have to check it again then, dilla.
ok, just did a quick check and you're right. i picked that up somewhere along the line. i specifically recall hitting F once and it didnt work, but when i unhighlighted a component, then it worked. odd. must have been a one time thing or that everything was lagging or something. but, you're right, just hit F works fine. Yes is true this also happens to me, that I save a preset but the after some time you perhaps do not know why you saved it just by looking at the preview image, as this can be similar to other one but have different settings. |
