Hi, I have so many filters now that drilling down through them can be time consuming. I'd like to be able to somehow regroup all the filters into my own custom groups, for example: B&W, Painting Effects, Color Toning, Simple Frames, Complex Frames, Diffusion Effects, Old Effects, etc, etc. If not custom categories, then allow some kind of key word tagging so I can isolate exactly what I'm looking for. This would be outstanding. Cheers.

Wait a few days and FFCat will be released and will let you do exactly that.
It's freeware, open code, portable. Here's a preview of how it works (Note that the video is of an early version, FFCat is much better now): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJuv6LUOc5M |

Fantastic! That's exactly what I'm looking for. There is one problem though. Say I create a B&W folder with assigned filters to it, and then want to see those particular B&W filters previewed over my photo in succession of each other as the program lets you do now. Will the catlog perform this way, or will I have to note which filetrs are the B&W ones and then find them again in FF to preview over my working image? The catalog is certainly needed though. Can't wait for it.

Double clicking a filter will open it in FilterForge, so you can watch the results in succession by going down the list of filters.
For more details on what's in FFCat, take a look at the following threads: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...#nav_start and http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=9806. Note that the latest and greatest version is not online yet, but it will be soon. ![]() |

Very good program, Morgantao. I'm curiuous though; is it possible for the program to install the filters as per their assigned default categories so I can skim through them as I would in FF. Eg. frames, Photo, Patterns etc etc.? This would save large time by playing within the group I'm initially looking for. Also, will it be possible to later view my test photo within FFCat so I can see which filter works best rather than flicking betweenFF and FFCat? Just interested to know your thoughts. Cheers.

Unfortunatly, the answer to both your questions is no.
FFCat is a tool that reads some of the information that is written into the filter file (.ffxml file). The default categories are not written in the filter, they are determined by FF's online library. As for test images, FFCat does not render anything, it just extracts info from the onine library and FF's cache. If you double click a filter inside FFCat, it will open in FF. You only need to load your test photo once in FF, and each filter you double click in FFCat will open with that same photo in FF. |
