i realize this one may be a bit tricky, what with all the possible nodes on the curve, but could the curve control be included in the randomization when you hit that button, please? even if you only tagged a limited number of points it would be good.
thanks. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yes, we'd like to see that as well, but we couldn't find a good algorithm for this. The only feasible approach would be to rescale the entire curve vertically and/or horizontally, or perhaps to bias / skew it a little (also vertically / horizontally), but could this be considered sufficiently random?

Could either be fixed X intervals and random Y, or random X,Y for each point.
An option to have either one or the other would be amazing. You could limit the randomizer to, say, 10 points, then you have at least a random base for the user to work with. |

Morgantao, our randomizer always starts with the existing value as a base, it doesn't create control values from scratch. For the colors, it's the original RGB, for controls it could be an integer or a float. For curves it has to be the original curve, and we'll need to perturb it randomly, the higher the randomization level the higher the perturbation.

Oopsy... I was totaly thinking of the bezier curve component, and forgot about all the rest

Tagging points... it looks like Craig was talking about randomizing the Bezier Curve, no? Would be cool if we could have a random bezier curve with a random number of points, and random X/Y positions, point types and handles. The problem is: How do you make this randomization reproducable for use with the global Variation parameter. A 'Randomize' button inside the Curve Editor would be rather straightforward, but then again, how useful would this really be? --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
