On some of the textures - say brick walls or flagstones- the realism could be improved by selectively 'pushing' some bricks/stones (vines, wires etc) and features higher or lower with a heightmap. If there was a livepaint tool that could be used on a final heightmap component just before final render, so you could paint using a simple 'lighter' or 'darker' brush to 'push' sections up or down. I guess you could manually do this in Photoshop but you could see the results immediately in FF.
