I see it on the wiki as 'not planned' and I don't doubt it's been discussed previously. But seeing as the support's not there, it bears raising the issue again.
Please add support for Open CL to this application. This would allow users to render textures and maps in significantly less time than they can using the CPU alone. Don't tell me that it's buggy or unstable or somehow unsuitable for this kind of application. Arguments made more than 5 years ago simply don't hold true today, where the technology is cross-platform, works on AMD/nVidia/Intel GPU's, and is used by compute-intensive programs from Adobe, Apple, and a multitude of other developers looking to improve render times. As a customer, I believe it's the single most important feature you should be working on. |

YES, YES, YES! Hello, Welcome to the forum, and specially putting this very important topic that I absolutely and totally agree very much with you that this the single most important feature that Filter forge needs to become really the top and most important plug-in. Is true that before, there was a fight between Nvidia´s CUDA, AMD´s own rendering algorithm, OpenGL (and others) but now the support for the OPENCL is becoming much wider and available AND as you say very well, this is cross-platform and work on ANY GPU card and so it is not a problem anymore as before I also think that this would really improve very much the render speed of filter forge and would make it really POWERFULL and VERY USABLE and then would be a really awesome alternative to the nearly realtime photo plugins available from other software companies for Photoshop or other sofware hosts. I think that if Filter Forge could support GPU it would multiply much the sales and would become MUCH more popular than what is already now |
