Wow ! Great example Mardar I love the white one and I would like to get the presets of this one if you want.

Then Mardar have put a screenshot of ALL the many preset settings that are needed for making this, but this is by far a easy way to share a preset and that the other interested person could copy and reproduce the same preset.

I think that would be a good idea to find a way to be able to share presets between users of the filters (only if this preset does not include any image or source that depends on a image or photo stored in the user computer) and so can share your own findings for a determined filter results.

Please, would be possible to SHARE the presets in a easy way ?

Perhaps one way to do it would be to add a "Share preset" option in the preset settings as shown below and then be able to send it or save it to a choosen folder, so you could then after attach this to an email.

Because now there is NO possible way to share those presets you have made yourself unless you send the WHOLE filter to that person with the included preset.

ALSO would be good if possible to share a group of presets, I mean, as before instead of selecting just one preset to share, it would be good to sel ect 4 or 5 and click also on "share preset" and all the 4 or 5 presets would be copied to the folder that you want.

This would be useful if you make interesting presets that could be useful to others using the same filter. For example:

There are lots of filters made by Ghislaine and Mardar that generate things and is not enough with the 20 preset limit, so if you have made some interesting with this filters that they have made, you could be able to share those with the other users.

Of course there are MANY (thousands) more filters that could benefit from this ability to share presets, as this is just an example.

BE ABLE TO UPLOAD PRESETS TO THE FILTER FORGE WEBSITE

Another possible idea is to have a new part in the Online filter library that could have inside each filter also some presets uploaded by other user, and they would be attached to the filter with a download link for those presets and so you could choose which one you want and like to download.

Be able to share and download presets

A very good idea, that should be fairly easy to implement.
After all, a preset is just an XML file that includes all the setings of all the controls for that preset. If there was a way to export a preset as a file, just like you can share a filter, it would be cool. Let's call it an FFPXML file (Filter Forge Preset XML). Then you could double click the FFPXML file and it would import the preset into the filter, just as double clicking FFXML files adds them to Filter Forge.

BE ABLE TO UPLOAD PRESETS TO THE FILTER FORGE WEBSITE

While probably possible, I imagine this would be tougher to implement as it would be necessary to change the library structure and\or create a new library, and have FF be able to comunicate with it, as with the filter submition wizard.
Also, it would mean a huge load on the FF servers, as all the presets would need to be rendered and saved as images, and while not everybody can make filters, anybody can create hundreds of presets.

Imagine having 8700+ presets to each of the 8700+ filters. That would be a mess.

Please, Please, Filter Forge Inc. Could we have a easy way to be able to export/import filter inside Filter Forge so we could share the presets we have created ?

Perhaps the best way and easier for FF Inc. is to only add the export and import of presets and ONLY share them on the forums, as perhaps would be a problem to have them published in the filters own page, but if it would be possible it would be great.

After reading this again, I think that perhaps it may be probably a little confusing and could be thought more complex or different than what I though

When I have put "share presets" it means that you will be able to SAVE all the presets of that filter and have all of them in one filter so then after you would be able to LOAD them back

So if you can save the presets of the filter and then load them back, you can share them with another person or use it as a backup for yourself

SO, the real thing would just and simply to have an option to

ALLOW TO SAVE THE PRESETS of the filter that you are using in that moment
and of course also be able to LOAD THE PRESETS back.

Although it would be good to share presets in the online library it surely would be much more complex to implement and more work to do for FF Inc. and do not think that would be good, and the best way would be to just share them through the forum uploading the presets file that you have saved.

I'm only two years late in this discussion, but I just bought FF 4.0 and am thinking it would be nice to save presets. I'm the kid that always got picked last in PE because I'm so uncoordinated. And it's no better with clicking on buttons today.

I've overwritten presets already. So, here it is two years later, and 4.0 was just released. We still need this ability to save our presets.

Maybe version 5...

You can save your own presets. Make changes in the settings of any filter, then click on the little arrow on the right of the presets tab and select Add Preset to save your own preset.

+1 EAdams nailed it.

Uhh in regard to the point and purpose of this... it seems all about being resourceful. I don't see "why not" nor do I really care.

[Multiple edits] - The title of the thread is just misleading haha. bump for 2012!
