I would love a component that blanks out a portion of the screen defined by the same controls as the free gradients use.

I am sure people have figured out a lot of ways to do this; I have my own - usually using a free gradient, blend, and alpha setting - but, it does seem to require more components than necessary and it seems like this wouldn't be too hard to do! smile:loveff:

More like clearing directly to alpha, but yes. That's essentially what I do, but in black, and then a set alpha pass, but if there's already black in the image it makes it dicey.

You can set color 2 to alpha.

Edit: added image.

As far as I've been working with FilterForge, you wanna just look for the best shortcut possible for every step of the way. In this case by doing this, you can effectively avoid using any set-alpha operation and run into difficulties as you've mentioned.

smile:) Hope that helps!

Never thought of setting the free gradient color to fully transparent!

FF is like the "Photoshop Hero" concept from Penny Arcade...a never-ending art videogame. xD
