i have seen many times already in the forum that some people find confusing the very short message that appears when it has been released a new update and you are required to update to be able to download any new filter
I think that FF users should feel confident and sure when they use FF and that there are not brief and confusing messages appearing To avoid confusion, problems and make it better understanding for FF users it would be good if it could be something like this or similar There is a new update available for your own version, please click OK to download it or To be able to download new filters, is required to update, please click OK to download it or To be able to download new filters, is required to update to the latest of your own version, please click OK to download it I mean to be able to avoid problems and do not confuse FF users as in this thread FF 4.0 failing to download filters, asks you to upgrade first. |

I have seen this
Fuming - confusion about asking to update or upgrade I wonder why this has not been changed yet, as this makes a very bad feeling and people feel bad because of this. Does Filter Forge want to make their users feel bad? i do not think so, but if they still have confusing brief message that are not clear and open to be understanded wrongly it, they are doing it It should be very clear that is NOT that you need to upgrade to the latest version number, just update to the new version whitin the same number FREE it must clear that the message is not telling that you need to buy and pay for the upgrade, and this is an FREE Instead of telling that you need to update to latest version, it could be any of the already suggested above or maybe even more simple
This short message would avoid any possible confusion |

Does really FF want to annoy and make their FF users angry with possible confusing messages?
I do not think so, BUT I have just seen that there are already threads about this same topic from 2010!!! and is the same thing, and 6 years later, it keeps the same problem with the same thing In 2010 FF Keeps telling me to Download the New Update In 2011 need update to download filters?? and also in 2013 In Total Why keep making the FF users angry and confused? IS JUST A SIMPLE TEXT CHANGE I would understand that is not changed if it would involve much time of scripting or modifying code, BUT this is just a simple line of text that is really very easy to change and update, so I do not know why still after 6 years is still the same confusing text showing. |

I have just seen that there is a new update for FF 5, and I wonder if here has been any change on the new version in regards to the update message appearing, so this way for any users from now on will not be confused eith the update message and think that they need to upgrade to FF 6 to keep using FF 5
The change of a simple and short text should only take one minute time I just want to help to FF users from now on, as of course is not possible to help any previous ones, unless there is some fixed and visible message put on the webiste on a sticky on the forum |
