While the LUA scripting adds utility, for raw performance in fundamental nodes, nothing beats compiled/assembled code. Can we please get effort put towards adding SDK enabling users to develop their own filter nodes using C/C++/asm?

Given this request comes up over and over, if there's a practical/technical reason it isn't feasible, at the very least explain why?

F.e. it'd be nice to have additional types of noise besides just Perlin, but at such a fundamental level using scripted/intepreted execution for a noise generator is painfully slow / inefficient.
