Hi
may be this subject has been posted my apologizes if it's the case i discovered FF fex days ago and am using it as plugin for Affinity Photo. First i have to say that it' a fantastic tool The most important negative point for this tool is that FF does not have any GPU acceleration and is not optimised for using the GPU as it happens with Affinity Photo that makes all fast Today we wait a long time for the preview and more for the final result if you have to manipulate 1 or 2 pictures, it's ok but when you have to manipulate many pictures and try many effects it's very unconfortable , i used pictures with big resolution and sometimes just for an effect i have to wait one hour or more. My whish is that in a future developpment FF can be optimised for GPU acceleration to increase the spead of treatment if it's not the case i think that FF will not grow up , it will be a bad news for this good tool Thanks |

I totally agree that is a fantastic tool, it has a really huge and enormous potential to do thousands of things that could be possible and this should be a very popular and famous software You can build really lots of things that are unique and maybe not possible or difficult with any other software And I have fallen in love with FF since I discovered it This is surely an underrated software that can offer such great things
YES, exactly this is the most important negative point that why myself do not use it much more and have not stopped using it because it can take depending on the filter much time just only to preview any setting that you want to test When Adobe made the pixel bender with GPU Acceleration for Photoshop CS5 in 2010 it was incredible that you could do things and preview things in REALTIME and update was nearly instantly and I thought that it would be a real dream and the best thing that my loved software FF could be able to do this and told about this here and also many more requested the same
I absolutely agree that the most important and needed thing for the future of FF would be that it could have some kind of GPU acceleration in any way and so be similar to most of the other graphics software that since 2010 has evolved and included this already in their software as it happens already with Affinity for example I have been each year with a new release that it could happen the miracle and that my loved and great software could evolve in the same way as other software and grow with Realtime preview But I have been already 10 years waiting, so I regrettably and I am sorry to give you bad news about hopes of GPU acceleration as since 2010 it has been told that it would be really very difficult that FF could have it and this news it has been like a 1 ton stone drop on it If you search for "GPU acceleration" as in this link or "FF slow" on the forum search you will see a LOT of request about this same topic since about 10 years ago, but it seems that is not possible to be done because of the way FF was designed and can not be rewritten
I agree much with you that this is the reason that does not let FF grow and become much more used and is behind many other software that is considered professional, because for business and important companies and workers the time is money, and they can not be spending much time waiting for the preview or results I agree much that is bad news, I have seen how most of the other software has been evolving and becoming faster, but not FF NOT ALL IS LOST It is in development an alternative software that would include GPU acceleration and is told in the forum as the The next big thing |

Thanks SpaceRay for taking time to answer me.
I have a huge amount of a photography stock i have taken and when i use FF i have to test many filters and make combination for many and many photos it take a lot of time and i don't think that i will continue to ue FF in an industrial and professional mode it's very desapointing when i consider the huge potential that FF can have. for sure i will try to find another software wich can be more professional than this. am sad to say this but it's the reality thanks a lot SpaceRay |
