Filter Forge needs an Autosave feature that backs up the ffxml files in the 'My Filters' folder at regular intervals.
I just had a crash while saving my work in the filter editor, loosing about two hours because the ffxml file was damaged in the crash. Bad thing! Oh well, back to creating that one from scratch... ![]() ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Currently, you can press Ctrl+S from time to time to avoid this. UPDATE: In the current beta, pressing Ctrl+S too often may lead to a crash (there is a file handle leak that causes it). This is already fixed, expect the fix in the next update. |

I guess I have to clarify. I like CTRL+S. I use it early, I use it often.
![]() Still, CTRL+S doesn't help if FF crashes WHILE saving, which has occured several times for me. During the crash, the ffxml file is overwritten and becomes unusable, an empty file of 0 bytes size, and FF will crash at start up until I delete it. So, if I hadn't wisely backed up my ffxml files MANUALLY after the first incident of this kind, I would have lost my work completely. That's where Autobackup to a DIFFERENT location than the 'My Filters' folder comes into play. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Personally, I think that fixing the bug that causes the problem is a better idea ![]() |

Agreed. I am praying that I don't see anymore of THIS crash in the next version.
