i know this has been mentioned before and i believe it's 'on the list'. and that's this whole idea of being able to alter our own filtering organization. but i've a slightly different twist to put on this this time.
i understand that the organiztion of filters in our copies of FF is based on the library organization. that's fine. so, what if FF allowed us, the users, to have an open 'Favorites' and 'My Filters' file tree. that's really all we'd really need to be able to organize our own filters more efficiently. just allow sub-folders of our own making in these two categories alone. it shldnt be that big of a job in programming (for what little i understand of programming) and would make a BIG difference in finding and ordering filters the way we want them.
the GUI is already scrollable for the filter tree, so that shldnt be a problem. you wouldnt need to change the fixed, library of filters ordering, so that's not a problem either. just allow sub-folders on those two main folders. it would be great to have a few more or even infinite user created main folders, but not entirely necessary.
you'd still download filters to the main categories as it is now. but with the addition of the extra sub-folders under those two 'user folders', you could simply copy filters from the GUI where you wanted them, or, if not copy directly, then just go into the editor and re-save them. and, even if you didnt want to promote re-saving or copying, just having user-created sub-folders in the 'Favorites' category would be a BIG help!
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
