I have the basic version bought for the full 99$ and found out I can't save transparancy as the png option is only for professional version? Every simple image viewer can save in png and I would really like the basic version have the possibility to save in transparant png, otherwise many of the filters are useless as they use transparant backgrounds or am I missing something?

have you tried saving in .tif? i dont have the basic version, and yes, i understand that .png shld be able to save the alpha channel, but try the .tif format. when you save, you shld get a dialog box asking to save uncompressed and with alpha or transparencies on. i would have thought the .png gave that also, but try the .tif if you dont get that dialog box in .png.

There's an *Include Transparency* box I have to check to save a .png like that. Also, when selecting *File*, *New Image*, make sure the "fill color" is set to transparent, ie = A value = 0. smile:)

I tried tiff with transparancy checked and that works, but if I choose png I get a message I should upgrade. Choosing tiff with transparacy checked, I need to take it to a graphic program and choose mask from alphaplane to delete the black background.
Just a simple png format save option would be nice in a future basic version.

apparently, if you can do it in .tif but not .png then it looks like they purposely left that out for some reason **shrug**, either that or it was an oversight. you might try the contact form and see what FF inc says.

I doublechecked again. When using the png saving settings as FF gives it, channelformat 16 bit, transparancy checked and best compression (you can also choose none or fast compression). In these settings you get the message:
You cannot save to high-precision image formats in the basic and standard editions.
Please upgrade to Professional.

But if you check 8 bit instead of 16 bit it DOES save the png! It is just the default settings of FF that doesn't let you save. Big relief here.
Thanks for your feedback!
