I have just been looking over v2 and it seems to me, with the increasingly technical makeup of filter forge, quality snippets, and a way to locate the best ones, will be more valuable than ever. So it may be useful to add new category of ep that could be user contributed but effectively filter forge endorsed. They could be listed first in the snippet sections but not be displayed in the featured filter section. I can imagine how these would be very rare because they could be seen as extensions to the manual. They could even come with an instant credit because the nature of snippets do not usually allow for hu status.

Thanks. It took a lot longer to make it back than I had anticipated - almost three years. smile:| Couldn't be a better time though, the new ff is far more powerful than I expected it to be. smile:loveff:

Just checked - 2 years, 8 months, 10 days. Of course I have been in-and-out since then.

Remember the "Hell-Bent-Vagina" and "Radial Spoke" filters that I modded from your filters??? Well, those metamorphasized into all kinds of neat new things from there.....so I wanted to say "Thank You" for starting all of it..... smile:)

Sure, I remember - no way to forget two of my all-time favorite filters. smile:) You're welcome, few things are as rewarding to me as someone being able to use my filters or textures. When I get some time, I think I will pull them out and look at them in the context of v2. It seems like the spokes one could benefit from the rule of thirds.

I just looked at removing the square limitations from newspokes. I am definitely still in the v1 mindset, but I think updating some of my v1 filters will be a good way to become familiar with many of v2's new nodes. I came up with a messy way to replace the profile gradients, and got stumped on how to replace the 3 color gradient with a free form, but I have a feeling there is an elegant solution to both problems. I did not get very far this time but I will come back to it as soon as I can.

I know two ways to do it.....not replace, but to convert G3 to free form..... (1) G3 thru noise distortion, blur to make continuous (just before full solid color), then run through elevation gradient..... and (2) G3 on elevation gradient run through sign curve.....

Hope one of those methods helps..... smile:)

Now that I think about it, I do not even think it will be necessary. Take a look at where I am so far. Notice the warning I get when I plug the rotation wheel into the rotation input of the free polygon. Do you know why that happens?

Btw, I'm working on this at 1280x720.

Yeah, it wants an angle control there.....

It's a remap of the set of real numbers - why should I have to care? smile:|

See, if I set it up this way it works perfectly but because it has the red dot on the input I will not be able to submit it.

Not that I want to submit it this way anyway - since it's not finished. But, I think, I would have to have two rotate controls - that's not very intuitive and it would essentially break it in variations. smile:)

You could put the variations on a single control to keep them from breaking.....but you will loose variations from 30K down to 1K......

I think I have most of the old magic back. I need to clamp some control ranges and figure out how to restrict certain controls from the variations (I think we are able to do that with v2) but once I get that done, any of the mods you made to the old one should not be applicable to this one. smile:)
I really like how the non-square format gives it the ability to leave large areas of the screen available for comping in other things like text or images.
I updated the first 9 presets but I think you will really like 4,5 7 and 8.

Remember that I have set this using 1280x720.
