Another wishlist feature I was wondering about is if it would be possible to be able to drag and drop a module in between the connector line of two other modules and have it snap into the heirarchy without having to disconnect the other two and re-hook them up?

Kinda' like:

A ------ B (C off to the side)

A --- C --- B (C's connectors now snaps in place and effects the heirarchy)

Has anyone mentioned something similar to this yet? I believe that it would be quite useful for re-editing and refining filters without having to worry about which connectors go where as much, increasing ease of use for filter creators.

In execution unfortunately, I imagine the main problem in this concept is which input slot the new module will have the old connector attach to when replacing it by default (there is after all, only one output slot but multiple input ones), so it might require one to do something like shift/ctrl click on the designated input slot to bring up a new line (Maybe give it a different arrow icon?) and then have it cross with the previous connection and then automatically snap both the input and output into place. I'm not sure if this idea has any merit, but I think it's something that would make future filter revision easier. If it already exists though, please let me know! ^_^ Ahaahhaah *nervous laugh*

Yes, this has been requested before.

We already have 'default' inputs.

zephos,

whereas i can see a benefit in the 'snap in place' idea, i'd vote not to have it. just yesterday, as an example, i was placing a component between two others and had it 'snapped into place' it would have messed things up. i didnt want it connected to both components. i just wanted it connected to one in order to branch off and test the look. some things are just best left on manual control instead of automatic.

if the feature were added, however, i'd like an option to toggle this feature on and off. there are just too many times when an auto-snap would be annoying and i'd find myself having to unhook things again.

Makes sense ^_^ Thank you for the info Vladimir as always! ^_-

You have an excellent point Kraellin, never quite thought of it that way. I think shift clicking or a hotkey would be a nice way to toggle it on and off, but you definite do make a case if everything were to string together without any control that it would be pretty messy @_@.
