Could be possible in some way to know which ones of the requested features from the Feature Wishlist Wiki are going to be developed and possibly included in Filter Forge 4.0 ?

Now that the FF Beta 4.0 seems to be near smile:) , there must be a plan and a possible list of features that will be included.

In the start of the wiki it puts

[4.0] Features that are confirmed for the next major release are color-coded in green.

But there is NONE of the features color-coded in green so this is why I am asking here

smile:D I know smile:D But I wish I could break the suprise and know something before the release of FF 4.0 beta.

How will the list light up with green color coded lines?

How many will be included, will be a green explosion over the list smile:D or a very mild and sparce and scattered green lines marked ? smile:?:

SpaceRay, this has long been done on the wiki.

OH, yes, sorry that I have not seen that there are already classified by versions, but these are only a very few of them.

There is NONE of them color coded in green and seems that this is still kept as a secret until possibly the release of the first beta in september 2012

Please, when will the wiki be updated with this confirmed features for FF 4.0?

Thanks for your help

It will probably be updated with green lines when the beta comes out, and people know what lines to turn green smile;)

the thing I want most has always been ignored as a suggestion..... to be able to paint on/erase the effect where you want it, like nik

Good suggestion Carl, but in the mean time, until\if it will be implemented in FF, you can use layers on your graphic editor of choice.

The wiki THE UNOFFICIAL FEATURE WISHLIST

[4.0] Features that are confirmed for the next major release are color-coded in green.

It is still not updated and does not show any of these color coded in green smile:?:

Is this still a top secret and that can´t be known?

I mean, at least know what COULD BE possibly included in FF 4.0 final version

SpaceRay,

the "Unofficial Feature Wishlist" [triple emphasis by me] is mostly maintained by me, and I usually only update it when a sufficiently large amount of officially confirmed information has been made available by the FF team.

Up until recently there was no official information whatsoever as to what features are confirmed to be included in FF4, and even now the divulged new features do not warrant an immediate update IMO. Rather, I'll update the list once FF4 is released, or sometime before release, once all new features are known.

That written, I hope we can all relax now and enjoy the process of gradual revelation that is the beta! smile:D

Is a pity that FF 4.0 will not be like that FF 3.0 that included many new features, it seems that from the news already given, it will have only Groups, Loops and the new filter manager, and then all the features requested in this thread will be for FF 5.0 or later, and have to wait another year more smile:( smile:cry:

Sorry that I was very excited when FF 4.0 beta was released, now one year after I have lost the hope and expectation about FF 4.0

Thanks for updating the list, I did not know that this was updated all by you, and not by FF Inc. team itself.

Sorry, but for me "to be excited" is not the same as making many posts in different threads, this is not to be excited, for me and from my personal point of view is HOW these posts are written and how I express what I feel in them, and not buy the amount of posts made.

YES!! There is a great amount of forum users that before has been very active and was in the forum very often, and now there is only a few and the activitity is much lower and is missing all the other voices that was before.

Going back to the main point and reason of this thread

Quote
ability to name presets. (Planned)
- reorder presets via drag & drop. (?)
- More than 20 factory presets per filter. (Considered)

YES, this would be really good, but has been said that it will not be included in FF 4.0

Quote
Mute/Passthrough component

Does this mean that would be a component like to stop the flow or continue and passthrough data when needed of according to the controls attached?
This could be interesting and useful

Quote
Order of Controls form

- Support drag & drop. (Planned)
- Sel ect multiple controls to move them at once. (Planned)

YES!! This would be good and great if possible, or at least to be able to move by keyboard multiple controls and not just one by one.

Quote
- Ability to set component presets (default values). (Planned, low priority)

Yes, is pain to configure the components values each time you have to take one from the components panel, and sometimes I prefer to spend time going to another filter that I have already components configured than configuring it again fr om start

Quote
Color Regions component (various modes). (Considered, but technically difficult)

If this means that you could colorize and specify the regions to be colored or tinted, would be really useful and great to have.

Quote
Conditional Switch. (Planned, low priority)

YES, This is something missing, because the actual switch needs more options and not only works as an on/off

Quote
Erode/Dilate (Minimum/Maximum). (Planned)

YEs, this would be cool to have for good effects

Quote
More Patterns & Tilings. (Planned, low priority)

Would be good to have even more

Quote
Ability to rename filter without launching editor

YES, this would be good to have, if possible to do it without loosing the author rights

Quote
Polar Coordinates. (Considered)

YES! I have been thinking about this and have used the already available filter for this, but is not the same as using a single component, although maybe now having groups this could be made into a single component with what is already available, although maybe it could be perhaps better if it is done directly inside FF.

Quote
Direct Lighting (Phong-based multiple point lighting). (Already there, but no UI)
smile:?: smile:?:

I wonder, What does it mean that it is already there, but can´t be used because there is no UI? Is this something only available for scripts? Or is it hidden or what?

Excited also means very active. lol I just personally feel the discussions get skewed given the volume of posts you make. I lately encounter 95% your stuff and 5% somebody else's thoughts and opinions. Oh well. smile;) [Edit]Oh well... not like a bad thing either. Seems to keep the forums stirred. lol

Hey by the way, the post above you're making = I totally endorse. Some of these things ought to be just a node instead of us making complicated structures ourselves. In the end the one thing that keeps coming up is that we can make some of it ourselves using the current nodes. Right right right... I know I can... I know.

A lot of sighs...
