Hi guys, you may remember that i asked for a toolbox where we can save grouped modules and componants by dragging them into folders, i have started this thread as last time i think i mentioned the idea as part of a topic that was completely different. So i was just wondering what you guys think of the idea, i think it would save a great deal of time say someone had made a really cool shape and you wanted to modify it for one of your own projects it would be as simple as grouping the modules that made up the shape and draging it over to a folder then the next time you wanted to use it all you would have to do is drag it back into your new project. I think this would take filter development to the next level making it easier to make much more complex filters even for new users as they could build up a collection the more they used the program and you could even have modules in the folders as standard as it's already been requested that there be more generators and its been said that they can already be made but you could have all of these new generators as standard with this idea. I started this topic to get some feedback from other users, so how do you like this idea? IMO i think it would be an amazing feature to have.

I still like this idea. I have a couple of filters in the library that I used the same process for. It wasn't a small filter either, so it would be very helpful to be able to just use this with one simple click and drag...
I could think of many other things to do with this also...Instant Anaglyph for one.. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

you can already copy and paste snippets from one filter into another. select the conponents you want to copy from the one filter, right click on the group and pick 'copy'.
close that filter and open another and right click anywhere and pick 'paste'. all those components will be dropped into that open filter and all their links (within that group of filters) will still be connected as a group. this also works when creating a new filter. just grab your snippets from other filters and copy and paste them into the new one. it's not quite as good as having a snippet library, but it's something i use a lot and saves a lot of time. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

As far as I know, this has been requested numerous times (by me as well) and is on 'The List' according to Vladimir. Do a feature request forum search for 'subroutines', 'custom components', 'capsules' etc.
Regardless, it would definitely be wonderful to have this feature, and I sincerely hope that the idea gets some serious attention after the commercial release. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
