Heya mardar wishing all is well, hard to find the time for forums and such .........
the " save as " to a specified folder choice is an essential part of having folders, thinking it must have been merely an oversight and can be easily fixed

The green dot in the lower left corner of the folder icon shows the current folder for saving filters. You can also right-click any custom folder and select "New filter".

OH, as I understand it, you are right, if you mean that when saving a filter fr om the filter editor it does NOT ask WHERE is going to be saved, it will always save it to the "my filters" folder and then after you will have to move that to the folder you want.
I agree that it would be really good and useful that filter editor asks WH ERE you want to save the filter and not just save it to the default folder
USE COMPUTER DIALOG INSTEAD
The "save as" in the filter editor uses it´s own dialog and way to save, so it could be replaced by the default "save as" of the Windows or MacOS that will allow you to choose where you want to save the filter.
This will work right because it has been said that all the folder created are REAL PHYSICAL folders, so it will be easy to choose wich folder or subfolder save it to.

OH! you must be very sharp-eyed to be able to spot and identify that very tiny green dot, I have not seen it until now that you have said it, and I could not find the dot, until I looked very closely at the lower left part of the folder.
CHANGE THE DEFAULT FOLDER EACH TIME?
So, we must change each time the default folder where we want to save the filter BEFORE entering the filter editor for saving the filter we are going to make or modify?

You can also right-click any custom folder and select "New filter" |
So doing this will make the custom folder already selected for the new filter as the default folder for that new filter when entering the filter editor?

Thanks GMM for reply, yes creating a new filter is easy to start in any subfolder, which is good. My scenario is that I have a number of "working on" folders [ creative, texture, photo etc. ] where I develop the filter and there maybe 3 - 5 [ even 8 or 9 ] progressive versions saved [ why because it's possible to loose an intrinsic quality of an earlier version while experimenting and progressing the filter, therefore I can go back to an earlier version and start redeveloping the filter from that point { also a habit formed from FF1 when there was the leak} ]. These developing filter may also branch off and part of the filter creating something totally different such as a texture, which I would want to move to the working on texture folder. When the final version of the filter is complete I want save it to the relevant subfolder, such as in this case " Art Filters ", these final version folder I don't want cluttered with development filters or I'm back mega unruly.
The point of having folders was the ability to be organized and to be truly organised you need to be able to save filters easily to any folder.

I hope and wish that someone from the developer team or Vladimir tells why in FF 4.0 it has not been changed this dialog from filter editor, maybe because until now it was pointless to do it, but as Carl has said very well, now with the new custom folders would be better to have the ability to select the destiny of the filter
I am sorry that I do not agree that changing the default saving folder (the one with the very tiny green dot) BEFORE entering the filter editor is a good thing and solution.

if you modify a library filter and "save as" it defaults to "my filters" no choice for sub-folders ........ even though no one else seems to have hit the short coming or cares, apart from SR, I do believe it's a legit necessary adjustment that needs to be addressed ..... anyway it's the last I'll say about it, as always a great program, cheers
