I still think repeating certain internal functions a set number of times is going to open doors. I picture a module with 2 inputs, 1 starting point modeule in, and one back-to-here module in, and a slider input controller for how many times to feed the chain through itself, (obviously it would be easier to use if the filter maker happens to design right to left, or left to right, instead of up and down mostly, but that's kind of their problem to sort it out when they use it eh). Basically the idea being, feeding the whole thing back through itself isn't that useful, but chaining just part of it, like say a rotate setup, through itself many times, before continue-ing on through the rest of the filter modules, could help make some insane patterns, or possibly to achieve news takes on old themes, just by way of fractional increments being overlayed, and pixel bleed through/blending at corners etc.
