when i ran FF for the first time, i did the 'check for new filters' thing. this took me into another window and that's fine. however, it was a bit confusing figuring out how to get back to the main window. i kept looking for a 'return' button or something similar. i did finally figure it out, but it got me thinking. why not add a toolbar to the various windows? most editing type programs have these any more, a row of icons for quick navigating. i could easily see one on the main user side window and one in the 'check for new filters' window.

It shouldn't -- when you hit OK when it asks you to check for new filters, it just connects to the server, and shows a "balloon tooltip" near the "Download" button if there are any new filters (looks like speech bubbles in comic books).

Please check that again -- if it does take you to a new window, that could be a bug.

vladimir,

i checked this again today. when i hit the 'Download more filters' button, it takes me to a new window, the 'Filter Library' window. this is the same as it was last night. it's fine; i just wish there was a more obvious way to show how to kill or back out of this window.

We tried to achieve that by placing the Cancel button on the same place in all three key windows -- Main, Editor and Library. Same with the "action" buttons (Apply, Save Filter and Download) -- their locations are consistent across the Big Three.
