Searched the compiled Wish List and didn't find this as a topic.
My programming skills were/are limited to rudimentary DOS batch files.
So, I have no idea what programming sophistication/investment I'm suggesting.
However, I notice that filters/plugins from several others work as Smart Filters with Photoshop Smart Objects. For instance Akvis Sketch, Alien Skin Snap Art, OnOne Perfect Effects and Topaz Adjust.
Is this a reasonable possibility for Filter Forge filters?
If so, it would be nice.
Just asking.

Yes this would be a very good idea and would be really great, but the problem I see is that the way filter forge works is much different than any of the other filters available you have put, and it needs to be rendered by the FF plugin each time.

I do not say that it would be impossible to make, as I really do not know, but maybe it would be more difficult to make than with other filter plugins

I just ran a quick test. So quick I'm not sure how reliable this is. But using an addon for Photoshop called FilterHub I was able to create a FF smart object. And it was able to take me back to the same FF filter again. But it was not able to retain the FF filter settings.

Again, this was a very quick test. But you could try out the demo http://www.thepluginsite.com/products...iption.htm.

I was mistaken above. Filterhub is able to make Filterforge behave like a smart filter. I just ran a test where I changed every setting in a Filterforge filter. I wrote down all the settings filter and then rendered the photo. Then over in the layer I was able to relaunch FilterForge and with all the sliders exactly as I had set them before. And I was able to do this dispite running a different filter right before trying to recover the test one.

Filterhub has become one of the most useful filter tools I have. I never run a filter without it. It makes things much easier because it can function as a palette. IOW, it can always be open. And it can stamp the later before rendering. Or copy it. Or not. All automatically. And it can make dumb filters work like smart filters. But I never use that feature, which is why I should have tested it more before my previous post.
