It would look very similar to 5 color gradient. The main difference being it would have source imput.

i think i understood that. you want like a multiblend only with the threshold component so that it has 5 (or more or less) inputs?
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

IMO the task is too specific to have it as a separate component -- you can easily assemble it from other components.
