It would look very similar to 5 color gradient. The main difference being it would have source imput.

i think i understood that. you want like a multiblend only with the threshold component so that it has 5 (or more or less) inputs?
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

It would produce results something like this...



For simplicity in the example I'm using solid colors as the map imputs. However what I'm after is something that accepts full images as well.

that might be a useful way of mapping hues to bumpmaps too.

You can already use a 5 color gradient with an elevation gradient to get that effect if you only need solid colors.

IMO the task is too specific to have it as a separate component -- you can easily assemble it from other components.
