Manual Download...please!!!...

When I work with FF at home I have no problems, but here at work, where I have the most peace and quiet and time, I have a big problem. I cannot get by my firewall to allow me to download, or upload for that matter, filters.

Uploading isn't an issue as I simply email them home and do it from there. Downloading, on the other hand, is an issue because, although I have a lot of filters downloaded at home, I never know what filter techniques I may want to examine, and new filters come out every day.

Is there any way you could allow us the option to "right click, Save As" filters directly off the site. Please?

I have been in Tools->Options->Online many many times.
Funny though, I can get IRC & AIM to snake past the firewall using proxy settings, yet these same setting do nothing for FF.

I know that what is ran or downloaded when clicking to download a filter is a command file. I have surmised, and you just supported, that the command file commands FF to download the filter. These filters must reside somewhere. What is so difficult about allowing us to directly download them? Are they not being downloaded to our computers anyways? I can manually find, delete, notepad edit, and whatever else I want with filters after I download them, so security of individual filters doesn't seem like a concern.

Why is it I can download the ffcmd file through FF fine, yet fail when it comes to getting the file I really want, the ffxml file? The site shows 1600 filters as of this writing, so surely hosting space isn't an issue, I wouldn't imagine.

I'm seriously not trying to be difficult here, I just want the ability to study some filters at the place I am most productive, in my office.

I do that often.
But sometimes there may be a particular filter I want/need that has a certain technique I would like to study and it's not one of those I brought here. And sometimes I will come to work in the morning and there will be new filters uploaded I would like to study. And then sometimes, having a wife and child and all, I simply forget or don't have the time to browse and download the filters I think I may need while at home.

I understand the need to contain the system, but it's a trivial task to allow direct http filter downloads for those that cannot obtain them through the system. I would certainly love it if I could.

When the final software is released, and you get a larger base using FF in the work production environment, you may find this issue arising more and more. Some companies are just plain anal about their network exposure, the one I work for being one of them.
