Here's two ideas that I thought of while falling asleep the other night:

1. With the “frame” component, it might help it’s versatility if it had height and width parameters so that it didn’t always create a square (or circle, etc.), but could also create a rectangle (or oval, etc.).
(I was imagining how the “frame” component could be used to kind of draw various shapes (using multiple frames), and the idea above might help make it be less tedious.)

2. (This idea might be similar to a “bomber” idea I’ve read in other threads here, but I‘m not sure how similar…) In a program called “Infinite Vue” (by e-on software) they have a feature called “ecosystem” where you import a 3-D plant/tree/whatever and can use that to “populate” your 3-D landscape.
I was thinking if you imported or created in a filter an image that had an object surrounded by transparency, a similar function could be used to “populate” the image. In Infinite Vue (from what I remember) you can set parameters to where the object can grow (in 2-D maybe a range of colors, or brightness, etc) and it’s size (and how much size variation you want) and if you want the objects to have different rotations, and if you want overlapping, etc…
(This probably would make more sense if you read about the “Ecosystem” at the Infinite Vue page (and perhaps even tried it out in a trial version of the software….).)

The two ideas above came to me in related way, where you could create an object with a transparent back ground with the frame component (e.g. a four leaf clover) and then use a “populate” function to distribute that image about in a partially random way around the picture…
I’m imagining results that would look a bit fractal-like but the approach wouldn’t really come by way of fractal math formulas. (Maybe the second idea is a bit too gimmicky (un-essential) for now… (in fact I’ve never seen a 2-D program that does such a thing) ...but I thought it might be interesting….)

If you want a rectangle or oval frame, just import/open a picture that's not perfectly square, or make a new image that isn't 600X600, try 500X700, instant rectangle/oval framing.

Yeah, thanks, jffe, that is one way to do it, which I didn't think of.

But I was also imagining in a 600X600 image, being able to create the rectangle/oval dimensions too (for more versatility for making shapes from the frame(s)).
(I saw CFandM's "More Advanced Text" snippet which opened my eyes to possibilites with frame components... -- so I'm going to blame him for giving me this wacky idea. smile:) )

Frames are weird, I can't really seem to get too far with running things into the frame/margin width, but then, I never know what I'm doing eh. Keep at it though, there's tons left to be do with the components in FF already. smile:)

I'll admit that the Frame component is really one of my favorites. smile:D

since this is at least in part about frames, i'll post an idea i'd like to see with frames. i'd like a function built in that allows a blend between the inner/outer frame with the contents, something that would allow a smooth transition/blend between the two.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
