This probably falls under "overlooking the obvious" but there are times when what I really need is to suspend all rendering to sort through and debug my tree.
Any takers? |

We are unlikely to implement features that can be easily achieved with free third-party tools.

An external pause mechanism probably would not leave you free to manipulate nodes, which is what I'm usually doing when I want to pause rendering. FF does a lot of unnecessary rendering being "alway on" the way it is now. Sometimes, you just need to comb through a tree, cutting and pasting or optimizing nodes. I don't know about anyone else, but I usually have dozens to scores of changes I know I'm going to make that do not require constant feedback -- just a confirmation check at the end. Typically, it's needed on structures that grew out of control in the creation pass, when you're focused on getting a specific result. The next pass you go through and streamline, but you end up going at a crawl because everything you touch forces a new rendering pass.
If optimizing the filters is important, so is optimizing resource usage while you are at it. |

For optimizing resources you should set the image size to 100x100 or 10x10 or any other low resolution to make rendering instantaneous. When you're done, just set it back to the required size. |

A good suggestion for now. Thanks!
