Hi everybody,

I would like to be able to render high resolution textures a bit more easy with FF.
depending on the filter complexity, some filters I make can take quite some time (talking about 30 minutes or even hours).

one thing I do is I use the simple Filter output instead of the surface output.
this often make the rendering go much faster ... but in return I have to create the normal map myself and us a switch to output the different maps. but often its the only way for me to create the high resolution texture.

it would be nice if we could some how "disable" the surface filter from calculating the output like it dose and just give us the maps (an automatic way of what I do manually).

and another wish would be if we could render the texture in given tiles.
lets say I would like to have my final texture at 8k output ... but I could set the tiles to 1024. this way FF would render me 8 images at 1024 that I could then stich together in Photoshop.

I am saying this as the difference in time to render 1024 against 8k is tremendous.
right now the problem I am facing is that I can easily render 8 images at 1024 using the random function for each image ... but I am missing the seamless tiling for the final image I stich in Photoshop.

I am not sure if this is possible to code or not ... but in case I posted it smile:)

Greetings,
Patrick

You can disable the 'Final' channel in the Configure channels dialog.

thanks GMM

but will it not still render the final "3d image" with normal map calculation etc. that takes so much longer to render?

anyway I will try that smile:)

Patrick

Since version 7, Filter Forge renders all channels simultaneously, not sequentially. You can disable specific channels that you don't need.
