save shouldn't overwrite default preset

Has this been mentioned yet?.... I've experienced this numerous times. I spent ages making nice presets, then I decide to tweak something on the filter itself. Instead of the default preset I have some other preset active. I tweak the filter, save the filter and the default preset is overwritten by the current settings .

Yeah, that's a good point.

even though i've goofed up like this also, i'd prefer the current method wasnt changed. this is a 'user error' and when programmers start trying to correct user errors with code, we tend to get goofy programs.

i find that making a duplicate of the default tends to help this situation out. just make a copy of the preset somewhere down in your presets and if you wipe the default (like i did yesterday), you've got a backup.

what i'd rather see is a warning message when you hit 'save filter' that prompts you to save as another name for the filter so you dont overwrite an existing whole filter from the editor. (and i think this was mentioned by someone else months ago and made it onto the list).
