I am just testing version 10 as i read about all 3d-maps are rendered simultanously. It looks like in the small preview window, but when you render to a set output resolution it will always take a while to generate additional bump or normal maps. What i expected was you choose what output maps you want and FF is doing it for you all simultanously and saving the maps to responding file names like '...bump' or '...norm' e.g.

I think it would be a nice idea to introduce batch rendering, so that you can choose what filters you want to apply in which format/size with parameter input sets to each filter. Than FF can do all rendering in a batch job leaving you time to do artistical work or whatever. It is quite time consuming to do each 3d map on its own and wait for finishing.

Saving additional render maps is expected to take more time but rendering them doesn't.

Yes, this is what FF is doing.

The batch renderer has been available for 13 years already, since version 1.0:

Thank you for the information!
I was not aware that there is a command line renderer doing the batch job via xml-file.
But creating the xml-file looks quite complicated for me, would be great to have a more simple way smile:-)

When you say rendering additional maps dosn't take more time, you mean this batch renderer?
When i do it the normal way in FF it always genereates each render map extra, its not only time for saving, its definetly rendering each map on its own? Or do i get something wrong here?

No, I mean the Export function in the main FF window.

I run FF, choose filter and settings, set an empty picture resolution (say 2048 x 2048) and then "safe Image as".
It alwas says "rendering" when i choose another map (bump or normal e.g.) and its taking some time.
Just the small preview window pops up quite directly when i choose the map from the buttons at the bottom left side.

Ahh - just looked at the "Export" function in the File menu - that is what you are referring to, right? smile:-)
Didn't use that so far.

Yes, that's what i was looking for smile:-)

Thank you!

That's right – this is the way to save a single image. Remember, it says "Save Image", not "Save multiple images" smile:)

Right. Make sure to select the required render channels in the channel selector, or you won' t see them in the Export dialog.

Sorry, two more questions:

1. When i choose export - i always have to set the image format and quality to what i want (jpeg, 92%).
It is always set back to png 98%. How to change this permanently - until i decide other?
Are there some preset options for the export - i don't see anything.

2. Also the word "Image" in the file name tab is a pain in the ass. How do i get rid of it, if i want to name the output file as i want?
I always have the part "Image" in it, and have to rename it afterwards. Its the only thing i can choose from the dropdown list in the top of the export window.

Thank you

I agree, this is highly inconvenient. We plan to implement persistent export settings in a future update.

This is the default tab name. You need to rename the tabs before running File > Export.

There should be a user defined preset value for all these parameters, like default image format/size, export quality and compression settings and so on.
