Just a smallie...
I know the balloon popup notifications have been installed to alert new users to certain important workflow issues, and this is certainly a Good Thing. However, there should be a toggle to disable them somewhere in Tools > Options... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

They will disappear after you did what they ask for. For example, the Pan/Zoom thing disappears after you panned/zoomed, and the 600x600 thing disappears after you used File > Open or File > New at least three times.

BTW, '600x600' was the most popular support question -- before we added the balloon, that is.

It's good to have these notifications for new users...
... it was just me being a little clueless about how to get rid of them... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Yeah, those....no big deal really....just a one-click annoyance. Helpful for the beginner though.....

That one only went away after deliberately panning with the right mouse button 3 times. Usually, I use the scroll wheel to pan and zoom, so this wouldn't go away... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

The '600x600' notification is gone for good now, but the 'pan/zoom' one keeps popping up every now and then when I open the editor, even though I made it disappear before by zooming/panning three times...

Yes, it has. And so far, I wasn't able to reproduce that glitch. This happened only a few times, and I'm not quite sure when or why it went away (though it was already gone before updating to 1.008).
I'll keep an eye open for it and report if it occurs again. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Dear Crapadilla, could you please retry to reproduce it when you have time? I mean, start the balloon as if it never disappeared, then see if it disappears like it should and then see if it comes back. Will you?
This is how you can make the balloon show anew: 1. Close Filter Forge. 2. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Filter Forge" and open "Preferences.xml" with Notepad. 3. Find <EditorPanZoom value="false"/> and change it to <EditorPanZoom value="true"/> 4. Save the changes and close the file. We'd be really grateful. |

Can't promise anything, as I'm quite busy at the moment. I'll see what I can do.

Bella,
I have reset the preferences.xml as you described above, made the popup disappear and then spent about an hour of my evening trying to get it to appear again by opening various filters. However, I was spectacularly unsuccessful. I'm beginning to suspect I may have closed the window by clicking on the little 'x', forgot about that fact and then wondered why it popped up again the next time I opened a filter. Can't say for sure, so better not waste the tester's time anymore... ![]() A little sidenote: If one click-drags three times with the mouse-wheel in order to pan (as opposed to using the right MB), the popup won't disappear. Personally, I use RMB just for context-menus, so it felt a little 'forced'... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
